We were only high in the rankings because we had some many kids commited earlier. Also our average star ranking is lower than most other schools. We are not going to close with many commits so expect us to keep falling. Can't lose on guys in your backyard like Sony, Cook, Lane, Rudolph, Dixon, Wilson etc. We are getting good kids but the majority of the best kids Golden can't bring in. If it was not for Coley this recruiting class would not be where it is. Florida State continues to own are back yard and can't use championship as a excuse because even when they were losing 3 or 4 games a year they would still out recruit us.

Same as 2012 and look how that class turned out. Obviously we got some high impact players in that class, but there were a lot of JAGs and worse.

Yes, exactly the same...except for having twice as many ESPN 300 players this year compared to last years class, and many more highly rated players, but otherwise, yes, exactly the same. SMH

Stars are a good guide to start at but the coaches still have to be good talent evaluators and make sure that players fit into the schemes they are running

See my post on page 3...not true. We're 13th this season, best in the ACC. 12 schools ahead of us doesn't constitute "most other schools".

If we get Valentine back, and possibly pull JC Jackson, then our average stars would go up quite a bit, and be top 10 in the country. Not saying I expect that, just saying "if". We could also end up with Brayden Lenius, but most of those average star calculations only take into account the top 20 kids in each class, so it wouldn't phase our average if Lenius ends as a 2* like he is right now.

Also...what jrock said. We have to focus on these things to be successful in recruiting:

1) Get as high of a % of Florida (esp. S. Florida) kids in each class as possible,
2) Recruit to the type of player you're looking for to run the schemes you wish to run,
3) Try to pull high 4*/5* players early and often, hope the group mentality kicks in and you rake them all up.
