dont hire mario

To be fair to the 'fans,' Mario earned a lot of what was said.
2022: That first coaching staff & losing to MTSU, losing record
2023: The GT kneel down, losing 4 of the last 5 games
2024: Wasting Ward by having no defense, losing to GT again, losing 3 of last 4.
2025: Losing to L'ville and SMU with ugly picks to end both games

Somewhere in there he burned through 3 DC's, 2 OC's, an S&C coordinator, and every single position coach- exception being Mirabal?

He also had a fan blaming moment to go with his coaching blunders. Glad he SEEMS to have figured most of his issues out. Still needs a stronger focus on the kicking game. 11-1 is the floor for '26 ACC Champs and another CFBPO run.

The biggest change needed to make was this isn't 1998 winning games 13 to 10 won't do it in the long run that's the biggest change I saw philosophically if that continues into this year I think we're celebrating a national championship in Vegas!

To be fair a lot of the criticism toward Mario was deserved leading up to the SMU loss. To his defense he made a lot of good offseason moves (Firing Gattis and Lance) and getting the right guys in here. I'd say about 80% of the board here were getting restless with the underwhelming results.
Him firing Gattis and going air raid is something that will be in the history books.. Gawd bless the air raid.. :u5pyxda:

i said the same about Richt. Mario wont work here. Of all the successful coaches we have had, they all share the same characteristic. ALPHA. Each one was without question an unbending, dominant personality. Mario will be a step up from what we have had. But it will end in disappointment. He's no ALPHA. We need a guy who is gonna hurt feelings and spit zero bull****. Hardcore discipline. Our next Coach needs to be an assassin and a tyrant. Mario will fall short

My pick is Kiffin.
He would run the Coastal division almost every year. Mix in some acc championships. I also think some playoff appearances.

Dont hire Mario.

You should self castrate and donate your nuts (assuming you have) to Isla Canaria’s.

I’d say it was 30% of the board *****ing and whining so much it seemed like 80%

I think firing Lance was even better. Yes Gattis was a bum but Van Dyke, Garcia, and Brown were even worse.
Its the dominos, Gattis was a big move and needed of course.. But you might not be able to even get to lure a rising star like Hetherman if things are toxic.. You need a platform to lure in a QB who has to see himself in system, I dont think you get Ward without an platform (open offense) he is familiar with and showcase his skills.. I dont even want to walk down the dominos after that..

This might sound sort of odd, but I give him a pass for the first two years (except the GT kneel down - wtf) because my expectations were so low knowing that our roster was really flawed. I was more angry/annoyed with 2024's god awful defense, losing to GT and cuck Fran Brown in 2024. The Pop Tart Bowl was just weird. I thought it was a meaningless game, said as much on here, and based on the changes at halftime, I think the staff thought it was also meaningless. So yes, we lost to Iowa State and probably shouldn't have. I can see why people would point at the coaching there, especially if they wanted the coaches to treat the **** Tart Bowl like a championship game. Last year the Louisville game was annoying and the SMU game.....gross. I walked out of that high school stadium in Dallas and was so angry with the team and Mario for playing down to the level of the competition. Howeva (Screamin' A Smith voice)....I never have ever rooted for us to fail EVER. Based on some comments from some on this board, I think there are some "fans" who actually take some level of pleasure in us failing.

Mario was always gonna need really good coordination to be successful

Took us some time but we got there

The staff he hired here in 2022 was absolutely tragic in hindsight but this season I think is the strongest overall staff we’ve had since Butch was here

If this program can get TEs figured out I can’t see where it’s weak. Oh and kicking. Taylor has improved a ton, Lewis is elite, Hetherman was a brilliant hire, DBs need to improve tackling but they always do.

QB should be elite. Fletcher is a stud. WR room will be improved.

Gattis got 23ppg with those guys. Dawson got a 31ppg with TVD and Emory Williams. Gattis is the WOAT. Nobody has ever sucked as bad as that guy.
Lashlee scored 34 PPG the year prior. Mario f’d up that OC hire.
