Donna a Micromanager. DiMare & Miller to Decide Our Fate

Were DiMare and Miller responsible for hiring Al Golden? How much of that was a Shalala decision? Are these the same dudes who were offended by Dan Mullen during his interview? These are important questions. These are the men responsible for either reviving us or driving the final stake through our skulls.

Miller is not really a football fan. His focus is on the medical school. DiMare is heavily involved in athletics and is probably the most influential donor in the athletic department.

When we hired Golden, the search committee was DiMare, Kosar and the AD.

DiMare wants Butch Davis.

I'm guessing DiMare was the chief proponent for Golden, since it's pretty well known that Trestmann was Bernie's preferred guy ...

Shouldn't the fact that DiMare was so wrong before give folks pause for his preference this time? Or, would that only matter if you didn't like his preference?

Also ... Who was offended by Mullen? was it DiMare? If so, another red-flag that he shouldn't be involved!

If he thinks coaches have to wait until after they've done something to have an ego, he's clueless, IMO.

i think DiMare and others knew that the Shapiro scandal was about to explode. at that juncture, in my opinion, they were not looking for the best football coach, but for someone that could help the program weather the storm. they knew shannon would collapse under the weight of the scandal or quit. they made a great selection in golden.

Fair point.

But I think Golden knew, too ... I think he sold them on his ability to manage a roster through NCAA sanctions.

my take on that is that they did not really know, and maybe did not make it a big deal of a potential scandal during Golden's interview. Probably why he tried to leave afterwards and they buckled by giving him an undeserved extension.

calling donna shalalalalala a "micromanager" is really on target because everything about that disgusting little gnome is "MICRO"

Yikes.

I think they'll call some other candidates up, but ultimately, after the Golden debacle DiMare pushes for what is familiar and what he feels is a sure thing.

My official prediction is Butch.

This can't be the structure at big time programs, right? I understand everyone's got their heavy hitters when it comes to boosters and contributors, but ultimately the hiring decisions are left to an athletic director who is qualified to handle these decisions, no?

Is it abnormal to have two BOT members playing a crucial role in the search and decision making process?
Blake should have the final call, his name will be associated with the hire so he should be the one making it.

And lol at DiMare's son taking over the baseball team in 2018. Is he the best possible coach or are we just handing keys to the sons of big time donors.

It's just not the way to do business.

People forget that Blake James worked in our athletic dept. almost the entire time Butch was here. If Dimare is pushing Butch and Miller isnt huge into football then Its Dimare and Blakes call. Blake has to have a relationship with Butch. Its got to be Butch.

Sure would like to see JJ on that hiring committee...

JJ would be a great choice, right after myself.

Just give us Butch, Herman, or somebody we know is a real football coach. Is it that hard to a hire a real football coach who will have his team fight for 4 quarters every saturday. We understand we aren't gonna win the national title every year BUT this 6-7 bull**** NO way. Put a respectable product on the field that flys around on D & has some rhyme & reason on O & i'll be happier then a jack rabbit on a hot date lol

I think it obvious we gave the BOT and AD a bad name before it was deserved. There was five successful hires until Shalala but then three bad hire. She was the problem.
SHALALA now works for the clinton foundation. She's a hack just like Hilliary

dont know if golden knew or not, but he should have known since the underlying accusations were already public knowledge. if the single criterion for hiring a coach at the time shannon was fired was the ability to sustain a program through sanctions and the delay in resolving the case, UM made a very good hire. he did, however, suck as a coach
