Not at all.

their plan is clear as day. They obviously think Kendall Briles is heach coaching material. But clearly can’t give up the keys to that dumpster fire. So Stoops will be there for 3 years-ish. Right the ship. Hand it over to Kendall

I played golf with a close family member of his a couple of years ago and I was told he had no interest in coaching anymore. Could that have changed? Sure. But he’s not a guy that is going to go out and put in a ton of extra hours.

I think he’s a good hire for them just from the standpoint that he will stabilize their program. That’s what they need right now.

He literally just signed a contract to coach again. So the family member was misinformed.

FSU could have saved a ton of money by buying out Butch Davis. I guess Butch’s phone never rang? That’s so weird.

The fact that if the rumors are true Stoops isn’t **** canning the entire staff leads me to believe FSU and Stoops are clueless about the program. That reeks of not having money to pay the staff out, Stoops not having control, or FSU is focusing on trying to bizarrely salvage a recruiting class by canning the head coach but keeping the staff on short term (Stoops cans them after the signing period).

With that said he is a good coach, a good hire, and a definite step up from Taggart. That isn’t debatable. Richt is a solid comparison. The staff will make or break this hire same as Richt.

I just don’t follow the logic of “the only thing wrong with FSU football was Willie Taggart”. That is amazingly optimistic, short-sighted, and just flat out insane.
agree, its a rumor. guy like Stoops will have 100% control or he has no interest

While I was distracted by two very compelling choices, I went with Mark Richt 2.0; however, note one key difference, I don't think Stoops will be arrogant or dumb enough to call his own plays, or hire/retain obvious weak links on the staff. But, he is a respected and established coach whose career is mostly behind him. Most examples in college football of teams emerging to the elite level, have been from head coaches whose careers were largely still ahead of them. There are notable exceptions like Meyer and Saban, but let's be realistic, we've seen Stoops is product and he isn't on that list.

He was winning a lot of games before hanging it up. Not like he lost a step or anything.

Still not even 60 years old. He would definitely pull them back up into a level of respectability and would have them winning around 10 games a year, as he's done his entire career.

If they're scared of less proven hotshot offensive minds like Norvell, Stoops isn't a bad choice here. You have a proven, national championship-winning head coach that will stabilize that program and have you back to winning a lot of games and not embarrassing yourself.

I think it would be a really good hire.

Helps to have Baker Mayfield at qb...but he'll be 60 right after the first game of next year. While he's a good coach, if he's stuck with Briles and Leavitt I think he's at that point a figurehead.

He'd be a great hire for them. A forward thinker. Maybe the best eye for Assistants in the land. But boy does he have alot of Mark Richt qualities (nepotism, loses head scratchers, discipline issues).

Only issue w Stoops is hes not a long term solution. I see him staying 5 years max.

He's known for never winning the big games. Hopefully this is a Richt 2.0 hire who takes a hit after leaving the safety of a well run big time program. Also, judging by how Riley elevated the program the instant he took over you gotta figure Stoops was holding back the team a bit. 8-4/9-3 type coach for the first few years. Lets see how well he recruits.

NOPE but if they was to get his other Brother Mark then I probably would of bite a nail off my finger!
Jim Leavitt as DC though Will have that Defense Monstrous! I tell you that much.

Listening to ACC network right now. They are saying Bob Stoops has said he is not interested in the FSU job. They speculate Mark Stoops might be along with others. They think FSU will swing for the fences in this hire. So much uncertainty in the administration that it could certainly affect who is willing to take the job.
