Good hire but doesn't scare me. Richt type hire to stabilize the program. Keeping Briles is interesting. With his track record of getting young talented coaches I am shocked he kept Briles.
Listening to ACC network right now. They are saying Bob Stoops has said he is not interested in the FSU job. They speculate Mark Stoops might be along with others. They think FSU will swing for the fences in this hire. So much uncertainty in the administration that it could certainly affect who is willing to take the job.
FSU could have saved a ton of money by buying out Butch Davis. I guess Butch’s phone never rang? That’s so weird.
Short answer, yes - a bit. Oklahoma is a better program than FSU, so I'm not sure he'll find the level of success there that he had in the past.
But from 2000-2016, the guy only won less than 10 games 3 times... Can't discount success like that. He could make FSU a very consistently good team.
If you ask OK fans they would tell you they were stuck in limbo under Stoops. Now, that’s a limbo FSU would gladly take at the moment but you’re stripping away uncontested top recruiting classes from Stoops, as well as a competent athletic department and non-toxic culture in the locker room.Short answer, yes - a bit. You guys have the wrong Stoops.
Mark is the next FSU coach IMO.
Ehhh... Sort of. Richt closed 9-3 and had gone 8-5 two years prior. He also had 8-5 and 6-7 seasons in 2009 and 2010.Sounds like...Richt.

Stoops closed his last two years at 11-2 in each, ending with a bowl upset of the Alabama dynasty. He only had one sub-10 win season in the entirety of the 2010s. While he couldn't get a national championship in his later years, he hadn't fallen off to the level that Richt had.
If they hire Bob Stoops, I will not be thrilled.

Because we're in the middle of a season where we lost to GT, UNC & VT.Why is this “Bob Stoops to FSU” thing being taken seriously on here?
I didn't include UGA's bowl game because Richt was fired before it. That's not to say they wouldn't have won it anyways, though. I do agree that Stoops had the easier path. But the ACC is an easy path right now too, aside from Clemson.Richt had a 10 win season in his final year if you include his bowl game and I see you included Stoops' bowl games too.
During their coaching careers how many National Titles came through their conferences? Big 12 and SEC are a tad lopsided there.
