Does anyone believe this OL is elite?

This line is elite at pass blocking but they are not good at run blocking. Every run turns into a rugby scrum. Every run is muddy, and that's why Fletcher and Brown are better in this run scheme than Lyle (who is much more talented). The LG and C positions have taken turns struggling. The predictable play calling hurts the line, of course, but it doesn't seem like the OL is creating any holes. We need an experienced run game coordinator to come in and help Dawson modernize this run game.

I know it’s probably scheme .. but is brockmeyer really any good ? Not pointing to him as if he is the reason but the middle seems to be our issue .. I’m not an x and o guy so there is that

I can give you several names of posters right now who I guarantee still would label this OL elite and will continue to do so in the offseason and use it as reasons why we will be fine next season and beat X team.

It’s a mental illness. It’s not elite. It was never elite. At the ceiling it was best in the conference, which is very good. But when you make your bones on the OL and you fail to pick up short yardage several times against the likes of Stanford, SMU, and I’m sure there will be more - throw the word elite away.

Overrated but hard to look good when you run the same play into a stacked box or even 6 man box when safeties are firing without threat of anything else. This is like a middle school playbook and that is absurd because 2023 Dawson had some gangster a** plays

I said weeks ago it was overrated as ****. Solid to good group but nothing like you’re being told . The left side is actually mediocre.
Brockmeyer may not be Gaynor bad but he’s on par with Jakai Clark and an obvious step down from Carpenter who was a step or 2 behind Lee. Cooper has regressed each of the last 2 years and I’m seeing chinks in Francis armor.

Top 3-4 in pass blocking…Probably just outside the top 20 in run blocking…Overall a top 7-8 unit, but not the dominant force people are saying.

The interior, especially LG/Center are very average.

Physically = elite
Mental Discipline = below average

They are way better at pass blocking than run blocking. You might be able to make an argument they are excellent at pass protection BUT I think to be elite you should be able to do both and we are mediocre at run blocking. We don't do them any favors...as a matter of fact we seem to purposely make more difficult. Regardless they get stuffed way to often by way less talented DL to be elite.
