Do our receivers get enough separation?

Question for the X's and O's people.

In re-watching the Ole-Miss game, it seems like the Ole-Miss receivers were a lot more open than ours were. Other than the screens, dump-offs, and wide open Marion 50-yard bomb, it seemed like every completion Beck made was a contested catch in tight coverage. He did flat out miss some open looks like that early pass to Toney and another deep shot to Marion.

It just seemed to be a pattern in which Beck had fewer "easier" downfield throws than Chambliss did.

The scariest part of Indiana is their passing game with those big receivers who make every contested catch and a QB who seemingly doesn't miss. Although, to be fair, he had all day to throw against Oregon.

Daniels is a possession guy and Marion has good speed but he isn’t a guy that’s going to route you up so he doesn’t always get separation

Yet somehow Beck is completing 75% of his passes. In regards to Indiana Bama nor Oregon got pressure on Mendoza. Get pressure on him and he’s a good QB. Against OSU he was 65% for 222 with a TD and a pick. Hit him hard every chance you get. He takes 3 seconds to get rid of it. Put them in 3rd and 7+ and he’s not what he is on 2nd and 2.

Keelan is currently giving the Indiana coaches a headache because he was running right by Ole Miss all night. Beck missed on the first pass of the last drive but Keelan beat his man again. He played a brilliant game.

Why on obvious passing downs do we have Bauman split wide? Not hating but that’s not his game and essentially has us playing with 1 less guy. Why not Jojo or Moore, someone that’s an actual threat to make a play?

We not there yet but sooon, also compared to Ole miss we were running cover 3 alot and they started to flood the zone with sail routes.. Again I HATE country cover 3 but I cant ever complain because the results have been there..

Hetherman set the trap up nice and started having guys buzz under a couple times, we got Chambliss to trigger early TWICE and Day and Thomas were RIGHT there for INTs and couldnt produce. If we grab even half of those 4 drops it is a completely different ball game. You literally gameplan for a couple key moments and the #1 offense in p4 with QB on a heater you cant ask for more. Guys on the field got to make plays

WR needs improvement. It isn’t NC caliber. Grittiness, effort & blocking makes them serviceable.

In saying that, Ole Miss & many others are schemed open. Dawson just isn’t that guy. Sub-par play design.

Mostly for blocking, as weird as that sounds.

If the D tips their hand & shows blitz, you can motion him in tight.

If the D stays true, he's a great blocker in the screen game.

If the D doesn't show any respect at all to him, you can take a shot at a defender that is over matched

CJ cooked Ole Miss deep a bunch of times early but Beck never pulled the trigger. When he finally did CJ didn’t come up with it (though it could have been PI)
