bottom line...chad was ****ed they didnt talk to QW.. they should have talked to QW...they probably had a great reason not to but the politics outweigh any reason. CW and QW had no right to trash the team regardless. at least the staff didn't publicly trash the wilsons....

note to chad, just because you think you aren't lying doesn't mean you aren't (that is classic george costanza right there) and even if you aren't you need to be bigger than trash the program that was so good to you.

I have read each and every comment in this thread and I am tired. More than I have the time to take on. So with that, thanks for those who took the time to gain some insight. I believe the majority of Canes fans are reasonable people but the irrational have committed themselves to being the dominant voice. I don't have time for that. Coming here gave me a level of insight into things that I did not have before. I hope that did the same for some of you. The best advice I read in this thread was from the person who said, let my son live his life. Gonna take that and run with it. I am done with the Quincy Wilson v. The University of Miami saga. Thanks to CanesInsight for helping me reach this decision. Peace and happiness.

He read each and every one, but danced around, or outright ignored, every single one that he couldn't answer because he knew there was no way he could come out of it looking good. All he did was cement the idea that he has a sense of entitlement, and that he feels it's ok to pass that on to his son.

Do we have any donation money left? Instead of banners can we just rent Chad a limo once a month to go have a meeting with Golden? Donna will then roll out the red carpet upon arrival.

Yes, he's that important

Make sure the limo's leather seats are soft enough or he may just say he was being "disrespected" because we didn't get him a nice enough limo.

Its probably in Al's best interests to fix this relationship with the U School.

I think if Pete's (or CIS) intention was to clear up the air with Chad Wilson it back fired. It brought more fan sympathy to AG and what he is going through recruiting in SF.
And this is an alumnus' son we evaluated and didn't recruit, which makes it all the worse.

We can all imagine, and have even seen *coughGenroncough* reactions from the street agents/handlers/advisors/mentors when they don't get coddled by the staff.

That's one thing that Pete and I will disagree on for a LONG time...the S. Florida kids who have these guys steering their recruitments aren't mature enough to do things themselves, so they get manipulated by these 3rd Parties. I think Golden's best sell would be to tell these kids directly that they want what's best for them, and part of that is shaking off some of these so-called mentors who are looking to get a leg up off of their talent.

Golden needs to focus on the kids and the families. If he has to coddle/recruit a 3rd Party in addition to them in order to land a commitment, then that **** ain't worth it...I don't care who the ballplayer is.

That's why he's been smart to work NJ. For the most part, he's gotten high-end talent without the third-party drama.

This just further exposed what we all know. Usually it's the 3rd parties aka mentors or handlers though. In this case though we have the parent making it about them instead of the kid. Nothing prevented Chad from reaching out to the school. But he chose not too and then *****ed when they didn't chase after him. Notice he constantly talks about his status and how he felt entitled. Well that **** trickles right down to the child. If anything this has made me more sympathetic towards Quincy because he it's just following what his father as an immature parent does. **** kids are being raised to feel entitled and we wonder where it comes from.

If this thread accomplished anything, it was putting me back in Golden's corner.

It didn't put me back in Golden's corner at all, but definitely confirmed that I had the right impression of Chad and his big-mouthed son. They're both self-important losers, especially Chad because he's the adult and dances around questions with more deft than Golden and Shannon combined.

Not completely sure yet, but it makes me want to be. I've been about as negative about Golden as any fan on the internets can be. But for Choad to come in here and flat out admit that this all stems from Golden not holding his hand and giving him a hug...what a douche. How many parents of kids who don't get offers are afforded that courtesy? Did Maurice Crum and Bennie Blades demand to hold court in Coker's office when their sons didn't get offers? That's a legit question, because they certainly didn't **** on the coaching staff afterwards. Nor would they even if they didn't. Tony Fitzpatrick had a kid/nephew a couple of years ago, a TE, and he didn't get offered. I don't remember Randy having take him out for an ice-cream cone.

Should Al have done it (strategically) because it would have been a better play with other guys on SFE? Of course, but AU pointed out the ridiculousness of all this. If that conversation was really that important, all Choad had to do was give Barrow or Hurlie a ring and say,

"Hey man, I don't want to come off as a bitter parent or too demanding or whatever...but I put my blood, sweat, and tears out there for this U. Could you see if me and my son can have a face to face meeting with Al so we can clear the air and explain why he isn't getting an offer?"

I've yet to see him respond to that. And he is still justifying ****ting on the program and his son acting like you know what. Which brings us to the part where he plays it off like Quincy didn't trash UM until fans attacked him on twitter. BULL****! Fans went in on both of them AFTER they were showing their asses on twitter.

Even better, he was confronted about violating FHSAA rules by stealing players from other highschools and responded by giving a non-denial denial, and taking a swipe at the other coaches job. Noah pointing out that UM allowed him to finish his degree 16 years after he left and is still doing this just puts a bow on everything. He's just a despicable human being.

After reading the entire drama, there's an old saying that sums up why Golden did waste an offer on Wilson. It goes " The apple doesn't fall far from the tree".

I agree about this being a problem. The school, staff etc cannot come out and defend themselves in a situation like this. As Chad and Quincy are protected by privacy laws. They can say whatever they want and the staff cannot defend themselves.

As a parent you do not deserve a phone call from the staff if they so choose to not recruit your kid. The recruiting business is so cut throat that there is not enough time to do that with every prospect. So your feeling being hurt need to be tamed by you in house. Not on Twitter. If I have a problem it is my job as an adult to talk to the person I have an issue with. Not talk about them from behind a keyboard. So even if they contact you, what did you want them to say? What could they have said to you that would have been ok? Nothing. You feel like your kid is UM caliber and they did not offer. This is the problem with the popular local kids, they are entitled. If you bring them in and they are not happy they will ruin your image publicly and that is obviously not worth it to the staff. Hence, your kid not getting an offer. Good luck with your team and your future. However on behalf on the posters here I would recommend you just leave. Your fighting an unfair fight and your just going to lose respect here. And you are just going to get called names etc. Which I am sure is not worth your time either.

If you have been paying attention, you would realize that I said. I had no problem as a father. UM doesn't like you as a prospect. 69 other division I schools felt the same way as they did not offer you. 50 division I schools did offer him.

My problem was as an alumni, I would think it would be wise to have a conversation with me a person who has direct access to a highly ranked prospect. **** man, I put in my blood, sweat and tears on Greentree practice field and my name is in those hallways.. At least give me that much.

this is what dmoney means by playing the game and he's right, chad should have gotten a courtesy call, also want to give him credit, didn't have to do this, for those questioning his loyalty to the canes, should stop to think for a second, who else has EVER come on to face the criticism and down right stupidity some of you guys sling around

Who gets the courtesy call... Every single offspring to all past UM players... Or just the ones we here on the message boards say are worthy?

Its probably in Al's best interests to fix this relationship with the U School.

Based on Chad's comments it sounds like "fixing" it would require that he cater to Chad's whims and treat him like the most important person in Miami. I don't think Golden has time for that nonsense.

I threw up in my mouth slightly reading Mr. Wilson's excuses. I'm a father of 2 and a grandfather of 3. If Q was my son he would have been told once maybe twice to stop with the bashing and issue a public apology. If he was upset about his recruitment my advise would have been to request a meeting with Coach Golden or Coach Carroll and ask the questions he needed to ask while I sat quietly next to him for support or if your worried about the appearance of manipulating the situation then have his head coach take your place. If there was a third time I would have knocked him on his ***! If I was hurricane teammate of yours I would go straight to last step with your ***. Never go against the family. If there is a problem you go to the source. I too was an asst. coach at a high profile high school in Pa. I say that to only show I am familiar with the process. Taught my son that you don't say anything about someone you wouldn't say if they were standing there in front of you. Your decisions as a father are your own but your decisions as a role model and a coach of kids that might not have a father are unforgivable. You really should find another outlet for your free time so this disease you carry does not continue to pussify the young men you come in contact with. Quite obvious that we are better off as a football team without you. University of Florida is probably in a better position to burn a scholly to get/keep inroad to a school for future recruits. We are in a position to make sure all our scholly's count. Staff has definitely made some ridiculous choices and decisions but avoiding all your drama was not one. Could go on and on but....I'm out

Sandbar or Moe's?

Also, to reiterate, why the social media stuff? All former players, like yourself, talk about is that this is a family. Families don't air dirty laundry, especially when they know they can be influencing kids negatively. Talk about other schools positively, cool. Just don't talk about us at all. That's our problem with you.

I'm wondering how many of you would be talking to Warren Sapp this way? He bashed the current staff in a very public way and got a hero's welcome for the most part.
