I'm in the camp of wanting to keep this kid really badly but if Walton has actually reclassified to 2015 then which of the 3 RB's do you really want? Like I said, I'll take Williams, Cronkite and Walton but am curious as to how people here rank them- on skill/potential alone (not likelihood to remain committed, etc).
It's a really interesting topic of discussion.
Walton seems to have the most natural feel for the position. He has the ability to not only make defenders miss, but will also fight for tough yards. Great feet and lateral agility.
Williams is an athletic freak of the highest order who arguably has the most potential of the three current RB commits. Explosive, dynamic, and a home run hitter who's potentially lethal in space. And it would be huge to land a playmaker like Williams after seeing Cook head to FSU. Yearby is terrific in his own right, but Williams would bring a different dynamic to our backfield.
Cronkrite's upside is underrated, IMO, and he's a very well-rounded back who's drawn rave reviews from those who've seen him in person for his pass-receiving ability. I think he's primed for a big senior season.
Even though you didn't want likelihood to remain committed taken into consideration, it's tough to ignore that Cronk's commitment seems to be the most solid of the three. I highly doubt it's even an option, but he's the only one of the three who could opt to play safety in college if he has an unexpected change of heart about which position he wants to play at the next level.
It's a bit of a cop out, but it's tough to even rank them at this point because they're all so talented. I don't think it's a realistic possibility that we'll hang onto all three. But any combination of two of the three would be an A+ RB haul. And that's without bringing Scarlett into the discussion, even though some thought we had a shot at him before Walton reclassified.
