2026 Derrek Cooper 5* RB/ATH from Chaminade Commits to Texas

I am right there with you. So happy the admin and friends of Miami have prioritized football. If we can just start getting to the playoffs, it's going to pay off bigtime.

Question -- are we truly in the Top 5 though? My sense is we in the bottom half of the Top 10 in NIL overall, not Top 5, much less #1. All the top BiG and SEC programs (UTX, Oregon, Taint, Bama, Georgia, USC, etc.) plus Clemson and ND seem to be bringing the heat with NIL. My understanding was that most programs distribute their budget more evenly and then ***** when we outbid them for a specific target. Any insights?

We are definitely top 5. I can't speak on exactly what others have budgeted, but based on ours and what I have been told the likes of Texas, Ohio State, Oregon, etc. are spending more or less, we are in the top 5 no doubt.

We are top 5 in NIL.

Oh brother, you have to love these numbers thrown around by other programs who legitimately have no clue what they speak of.

We are not overspending, we are simply OUTSPENDING our competition.

The reality is, UM does not only top 5 in NIL, but I would say we are at the very top of honoring our NIL deals. That is a huge component as quite a few big paying schools have had incidents not honoring deals.

I mentioned this when the whole saga started with the Cantwell recruitment and all the stories by the media started popping up about our spending. That was a collective effort by the big click schools + media to try and derail us. Nobody and I mean nobody wants Miami anywhere near back on top, they know what the ultimately means for their programs. They will continue to do this regularly and not let up.

Ultimately, they are dumb, because in a day and age where money is now #1, all they are doing is helping us. Thanks for letting everyone know are outspending you publicly.

There are no more discounts for the top programs. No more of the best simply going to the top 3 or 4 schools. You either play ball, or end up crying like we see with Ohio State, Georgia, etc. as they lose blue chip kids they are used to locking up cheap.
This was borderline pornographic

Beautiful

I think the last two classes with the portal we are disproportionately heavy at qb. If we can take a mil away from the qb and give us a DT or a WR then that’s significant. Like if nickel ends up a dude we don’t have to go crazy for a cam or a beck

is cooper 1st round NFL type caliber ?
Easily. Just not many 6-1 210 humans running 10.6. This kid is special and behind this Miami line will be an instant game changer. He pulls away from South Florida kids like it’s nothing.

He will enroll at minimum as the 2nd or 3rd biggest RB on the roster and he will be one of the top 3-5 fastest players on the entire roster.
