Depth Chart for UNC

Not big time, but he can run & will, but he's not a run first QB.

If we bring the pressure upfront he try to escape the pocket, then that's when you have guys like Rousseau/Hill & Garvin to collapse the pocket to keep him from dashing outside.

You wanna keep the young guy inside the box & bring heavy pressure right to his face & he'll fold up.
I agree he can run but he'll fold like a cheap suit with a little pressure..

Disagree. Better to have him for a year than have no one at all at the spot. I'd agree if we lost a scholarship spot for a talented freshman, but that just wasn't the case. Scout team needs bodies, too.
Completely agree. We are way under in scholarships right now

No changes from Week 0 as expected.

I do however want to see Rousseau & Hill get more snaps, nothing against Patchan he's a good run defender, but they're faster & more explosive pass rushers than him & it'll be important for us to collapse the pocket this week vs Sam Howell.

Also look forward to seeing more players get snaps on Offense. Hightower, Payton, Pope, Wiggins, Mallory & even Irvin Jr all need to play more, and if Lingard & Robert Burns are healthy play them too.

No sense in having all these players sitting on the bench if we're not moving the ball just throwing it to Brevin on every play.

LCE, completely agree, it’s time; time to get our playmakers on the field, in space, to allow them YAC and to make plays. We need to adjust the play sheet to get to more digs, slants, seams, bubbles, and screens to utilize our speed in space to take advantage of what will be an aggressive defense for UNC. Time to exploit that to our advantage.

Defensively, I too would like to see more burn from Hill and Rousseau. Put Howell on skates and get him guessing where the pressure will be coming from should bode well for us turnovers wise. Make their offense lose field position and take advantage of that for our offense.

Absolutely agree with this. We need to hammer Howell as early and often as possible. Rattle his cage.
Agreed. So begs the question do we still stick with Patchan for the majority since he’s more disciplined against the run, or do we get Garvin and that man-child Rousseau in there at the same time early to try and do damage?

Though UNC will be aiming to protect him by running so I suppose it won’t matter....

Krazy talking krazy. Silvera gonna come back and start over Ford and bethel. Bro, silvera wasn’t gonna start before the injure and there’s zero chance he takes their job coming back mid season.
Patchan gonna start and play a lot. I’d like to see hill play just as much. But he’s not gonna start.

From a fan I hear you but every single college WR coach goes by the same things, I heard the same thing from my my god son who plays WR at Bethune
Every single one? You sure about that? Based on Bethune doing it?

Some programs put more of an emphasis on playmaking than they do blocking. Blocking is nice like I said. But your WRs need to, first and foremost, be explosive playmakers who catch the football and are a constant threat to put it in the end zone.

It’s a lot of the same **** that has plagued us for awhile here. They focus on stuff that doesn’t necessarily translate to making plays at WR. They over-reward hustle and blocking. Blocking is nice at WR, but give me the dude who is a TD waiting to happen.
Most of the quick passes and big plays we had vs the Turds had Harley making a block. Other receivers just need to step up point blank period.

Show the coaches that you're a TD waiting to happen and maybe they'll stop playing Tate so much. I get your point, but I'd like to actually see somebody look amazing with their 4 touches before I assume they're better on the field than the guy who blocks real well.

If you're facing a true freshman quarterback, you unleash the hounds and blitz the MF'r all day.

If he beats you with his arm with 7 guys in his face...well, then it just ain't yer day.

Ask Jarren what happens when you got guys in your face all night.

Yeah, I never understood why (good) DCs would play it soft and only rush 4 and allow a young kid to gain confidence with easy throws in soft zone. My memory is fading but hasn't Manny done that while he was a DC?

Exactly. Bethune, much like most HBCU's, relies heavily on the run game, including from the QB. So it makes sense that they would prefer a "block first" WR.

We need to stop talking about our defense, we will be fine on that side except when Knowles is in I get nervous. The offensive side is where we need to see improvements in all aspects.

Just like UF blitzed Jarren all **** night, we need to do that to Howell. Let our defensive ends pass rush, have our LBs blitz, and bring Carter on that blitz that he is awesome at.

Dykstra isn't even on the 2 deep in year 3. How do we somehow get the one ****** o lineman from Iowa smh.
It was very telling not to take him when Iowa and Iowa State never came calling for him. Im surprised the staff didn’t tell him to find another school after 2017 or last year.
