Both Denzel and Shaq may not even be top 20 LBs ever to play here. Maybe just on the outside of that list.

Yes, between outside lb’s and inside/middle lb’s, there has been at least 19 linebackers better than Denzel. I love Denzel and he was very good, just shows how blessed we have been at linebacker position. If you are asking if there are 19 better middle linebackers than Denzel, I don’t think so.

Colin, Rohan, Spence were not better than Perryman. If you want to say on the same level I’ll give you that even though I think Rohan was a bit overrated. If Perryman played in Lubick’s defense he would’ve been dominant. Instead he got stuck in Fal’s BS scheme.
Bernard (Tiger) Clarke, Rod Carter, Maurice Crum were all better than Denzel, IMO.

You have the right idea. Otto wasn’t a LB though.
Others you didn’t mention that we’re arguably better IMO: Shannon, Carter.
Peryman is on the cusp of top 20 IMO

I agree️First time I saw Perryman play, I knew he was special. Three-star ranking in high school didn’t matter.
This is why it’s so important for the Canes coaches to get off their lazy behinds and travel to high school games to see a player play in person. Film highlights like Flagg’s highlights, can show you tackles, but an evaluator can often miss out on athleticsm, speed, ability to see the play, field awareness, consistency, and other qualities that distinguish great from good future college players

Absolutely he is. I just think while playing at Miami, those 3 mentioned were better. Wonder if my opinion would change if Denzel played in their system with that coaching. I also wonder if Tiger Clarke would have been a stud in the NFL if not for his injuries.

I think DP’s tackling ability at UM was on par with our all time greats. He wasn’t the greatest athlete and he was short but if he got his hands on you, you were going down. There were countless times where he was tasked with stopping a back or receiver in the open field and he almost always got the job done. Good player and a good teammate
