He's just observing that recruiting is fluid, and you should not take a kid's assurance that he is committed as gospel. they will lie to your face. And given that, people on here should not jump all over someone who brings in information that does not agree with the party line.

another prime example is Johnnie Dixon. There were a ton of people on here over the last couple months claiming he is a "lock", because he has unofficially been to UM many times. And when others disagree, they often get jumped on as "soft shouldered." Now that he has bumped back his commitment announcement, it appears that the naysayers had a perfectly credible belief that he was anything but a lock to UM.

You cant let people get to you like this. The writers on this site bust their *** to bring us the best Cane site on the web, but lets not act like you guys didnt get your *** handed to you on predictions last year. Its cool, you are young and still learning the ropes, all the while bring in info that for the most part is top notch. Still you gotta remember that people get emotional about this stuff, and as fans we hate losing. All the members on this site just want us to clean up on every recruit, and when it doesnt happen someone needs to be the scape goat. The staff and the writers that made them feel like we were gonna get these kids are on the front lines. When you are right you will get showered by praise, but when you are wrong you will get hated, its the nature of this super duper ****** club know as college football recruiting......

Theres a way to say, " I had a feeling he would decommit" and theres the **** head sarcastic way that he said it....

There are many reasons I can think of off the top of my head why he decommitted. Look at the other D ends that are proven stud DE's we have coming in. This was his first year and he is still the shadow of Thomas which is my second reason. I don't think he wants to be second fiddle another 3-4 years while Chad is on campus. Next, he got a 4th star. He can be the stud 4 star from Miami going to a toothless fan base school and automatically be crowned as a freshman. Last, it may be grades but I have no evidence to support that.

It's part of the game my man. If you are going to make definitive statements about someone's commitment status in the face of obvious uncertainty, then you better be able to handle the angry reaction when it turns out they were right to be concerned. You also can't come on here saying "don't listen to other sources of info guys cuz they don't know like we do" and then be wrong and expect people not to freak. Like you said, there are no insiders. You guys are analytical reporters. Keep it to that. Don't get mad because people react this way after you told them something that wasn't true. It's part of the game. We all love your work and you guys put in the time, but that doesn't mean you don't make mistakes. Own it and live to fight another day.
