Bro; take a deep breath. Lol.

U’re looking at things from a micro level, and that’s our problem. What kids see is what SCHOOL is doing this or that. The fact is, Ed is ONE YEAR removed as a Nat’l Championship coach. All what u talking bout don’t mean chit, just like it didn’t mean chit for Coker when he was riding the coattail of what Butch built both on the field & via the draft. “The coach sucks” all comes out in due time, but facts r facts, and as of 07/07/21: LSU have been producing way more top picks, overall, & way more top picks at LB since Ed O being at LSU compared to Diaz at Miami.

U’re breaking down position coaches & all this, but the fact is some of ya’ll have been letting Manny skate by, and I’m not sure why. If it’s not Rumph, it’s Baker, if not Baker, Banda, if not Banda, Kul, if not Kul, Patke. Diaz has been absolutely putrid recruiter & the data backs that up, yet he’s given a pass all the **** time.
To add as well Manny's D has set records in two conferences for yards allowed in a game... One of those games got him fired from Texas , the other was by the guy that fired him from Texas... That doesn't look good on the resume'....

The LB'er recruiting and play has declined really since Coker. The Shannon years were almost as bad as the Manny years, but at least then we weren't so far removed from being relevant. Shannon landed some guys but had some real reaches. Manny had one good year, the Shaq, Pinckney, and McCloud year. On paper, that looked solid as ****, but didn't progress much as the years went by.

What’s always been troubling since Manny was a DC was his best recruiting year was 3 guys whom he inherited. A 2021 LB home run recruiting class is needed.

Chase and Keontra Smith have the potential to stop the bleeding with the right coaching

Manny’s ‘good year’ were all kids who were evaluated and recruited by dorito and iirc committed to him.

Can anyone explain why LB is such a big need for Miami? We essentially run only 2 LBs, the SLB is now a DB in our system with its own deep depth chart of players.

We dont need 3 LBs to go with Flagg, Brooks, Cave, Huff, Johnson, Troutman, and Smith. That would be 10 bodies for only 2 spots (and this is assuming that Jennings and Steed are gone after 21, they still have eligibility to come back in 22).

Maybe the coaches feel the same way, which is why the board is so small (Tolan, Jackson, and Bissainthe). Maybe they'll be fine with just taking 1 and maybe a portal LB for 2022 if we have enough ICs.

Solid first post.

Thanks lol. I've been lurking for awhile, but i was motivated to register and post because of this topic. It's been so confusing for me why everyone thinks 3 is a must for this cycle, maybe they know something i dont about our LB depth chart/roster. I'd be happy with just 1 LB to give us 8 for 2022 for 2 LB spots.

Manny needs to figure out who will coach our LBs up if he's not going to do it....every year we see Clemson playing some 2* LB that plays lights out at an All-ACC level.....first it was the LB that choked Lamar Jackson after the tackle vs Louisville and then it was the kid that got called for targeting in the Playoff 2 years in a row (Skalski or something another).........give Dabo and his DEF coaching staff our 2019-2021 LBs and they'd be no less than very solid.

The way I see it is if Clemson can run a DEF that makes 2* LBs All-ACC we can surely run a DEF that makes 3* LBs solid/serviceable.
They clearly have better coaching but it’s also easy to look a lot better than you are, when you play in between multiple 1st rounders on the d line and in the secondary.

It’s a big need for us because our evals have been atrocious and we can’t seem to find kids who can effectively play the position. Not more complicated than that. LB is an important position, especially for a coach who favors an upfield DL.

No worries if he picks LSU he'll learn real quick how bad Baker is.. Specially once our new and approved D stops Bama in game one lead by Manny.

I think Manny needs to sit down with the Defensive recruiting staff and seriously evaluate the way they have been recruiting LBs, because it has not been working. I mean look at the True LB recruits the last few years

2021 Tyler Johnson and Deshawn Troutman - Low 3 Stars

2020 Tirek Cave and Corey Flagg - low 3 Stars

2019 Avery Huff 4 star and Sam Brooks low 3 star

During this Time we have missed on countless LB recruits and we refuse to hit the portal for one.

Are these LB recruits, seriously Miami caliber guys? Are these NFL Caliber LBs?
Just a thought but have you noticed since dIAZ has been here the LB recruiting has not been very good. Not sure he should be the one to lead that sit down

It’s a need because of a lack of talent, Number wise we are fine, IMO. We just need an infusion of talent at the position. Stack chips,
