You don't think Manny will try and open a South Fla to Philly pipeline when it comes to recruiting?

Manny isn't that great of a recruiter at all. He has very poor energy and demeanor off of the field. Rarely speaks to people around him.

He ain't a top DC. You gotta do what you did this year consistently.

My problem is, how tf we gonna play hardball with Manny based of that kind of logic, but we extend Richt after two seasons ?
Manny is a good DC...but not top of the Class.
One good year,(last year) and one very good year ( this year) does not make Manny Elite.
Looking on his career......Manny bounced around and never did show anything until Miami. He literally got ran out of Texas.
The talent at Temple is nowhere near SoFla, so it will be uphill for him......... facilities, location, campus, amenities, pipeline to the NFL, (through the Coaching network), and housing are things Manny will have a hard time selling.
Recruiting will be brutal since a Temple degree is meh............and any Florida degree is worth more than Temple's anywhere..
Uphill all the way for him.

You guys realize the last 4 Temple HCs got P5 jobs quickly right? You also realize Diaz wants to be a HC and that he was a coordinator here? UM could give him a raise and some dopey title, but he wouldn’t be the HC. He’s the HC at Temple. This one’s pretty simple.

Exactly on point. We could have finished 11-1 and Diaz was going to say adios, especially with a Top 10 defense, his first. Taking the Temple job is actually very low risk.

Lol I highly doubt a player, much less an offensive player, would know what went down with Manny and what Manny was asking for.

This shouldn't be a mystery at all. Only a handful of coaches would turn down a HC position at a place like Temple just to stay at DC. ESPECIALLY to stay on as DC on a sinking ship like Miami. Manny most likely left becasue of a combination of always having ambitions to be a HC plus seeing the writing on the wall with Miami and Richt.

Love the kid, but it's not about the money. It's about the HC opportunity. If Diaz does a competent job at Temple, then he gets a Power 5 job in 3 years or so. Just like the last 4 Temple head coaches. He is leveraging off his first top 10 defense and you strike now. Diaz is an ambitious guy.

Explains why our Defensive side of recruiting has suffered so much.

Wrong.

Manny left for experience and opportunity, not money. Temple isn't breaking the bank on their second-choice guy behind Elko—and Miami could've / would've upped his pay (BoT already said there was over $1M+ available this season for an OC upgrade.)

Best way to someday be the head coach at Miami; go be a head coach somewhere else first. Look what Temple did for Golden (Miami), Addazio (Boston College), Rhule (Baylor) and Collins (Georgia Tech)—all over an eight-year span. Temple is a quick in and out; a few 8-4 years there and Diaz will be fielding real offers by 2022.
