After watching those 1:1’s you can better understand why JT is a big fan of this kid. He makes it look too easy (not sure about the comp level tho).

The Canes hosted 17 recruits this weekend for official visits, and the staff is happy with it how it went. Here is the latest on each visitor:

- Miami continues to move in the right direction for RB Derrek Cooper (Chaminade). He's an extremely high priority recruit and enjoyed learning about the different ways this offense can feature his speed (10.7 100M). I liked Miami going into the visit and still feel that way.

- Top-ranked WR Tristen Keys (Hattiesburg, MS) made his third visit to Miami and continues to express significant interest. This weekend was...

Hope Oklahoma goes 6-7 again. Maybe we get this kid and finally get Stone to go along with him? Maybe even Jackson. One can wish.

did we even work hard for this kid or did we slow play him? Love this kid's profile.
 
DE starting to become as big as a ? mark as DT, at least as far as this year's recruits.

Obviously not as big a need because we've done really well at position last couple years. Just saying, passing on Lafayette, passing on Norman…While whiffing on the Bama kids, Shaun Scott, Kruel, etc.

Charles is a good start…but 1 not enough.

Overall this is what's confusing to me…It's like we don't realize we will be at 105 schollies

Im in the opinion there needs to be 1-3 new edge offers out.

No way i allow a 4 star go to buffalo.

I have some familiarity with this situation and very surprised he committed to LSU. He really liked Miami and DeAnthony and his dad were stoked that JT was recruiting him and visiting him at HS. However, they looked at the current UM roster and had concerns with the current talent at his position and if he would ever get a chance to play at UM. Thought he was going to commit to OU but once he got past the big recruit weekend there and didn't commit, I figured he realized he might be better suited to look at a slightly lower-level school to commit to with the possibility of the portal down the line if he excelled and developed.
Then I hear he is going to commit to LSU and I was shocked and confused. But the kid is a hard worker and determined but I just don't see him playing at that level ever.

Sometimes the body type stuff is silly and exceptions should be made. He’s the perfect stand up edge

Would have liked to sign two DEs. This kid would have been more of a developmental kid given we need to start developing class stagger at DE.

i like him as a prospect.

this was well written and i would think this is how it played out.

I agree I think we need 2…But I think either by flip or someone we like we will get that 2nd in the fall…JT has added DE well into the fall last couple seasons. Lowe, McConathy, Pickett…All late flips or Oct-Dec commits
