Deal that Flake James made with Central Michigan

Did you read the article? It's a standard amount for scheduling that kind of game. For whatever reason we needed to fill a spot and you aren't going to do that against a legit, Power 5 type school because schedules are made 5,6 even 10 years ahead of time.

----------------------------------------------

Of course, the sub-$2 million fee actually falls in line with the rising cost of SEC powerhouses scheduling games against Group of Five opponents, including the $1.9 million Auburn is paying UMass for a pre-Iron Bowl home game Nov. 14, 2020, and the $1.9 million Georgia is paying Kent State for a 2022 home game in Athens, Georgia.

The largest payout to a non-conference opponent came in 2013 when Nebraska shelled out $2.125 million to have the Golden Eagles move a contest originally scheduled for Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to Lincoln, Nebraska, according to a report by FBSchedules.com.

We don't need to be paying schitty teams to play us. Just go play a real team.

The thing I've noticed about this place is when times are tough, people literally invent things to ***** about. With so many real issues, why complain about something that is standard operating procedure?

Bama is paying $6.71 million to have four teams to come in and take a pounding.

To answer your question, it's because we have a ton of morons roaming about the fanbase. They whine when Miami does the financially sane thing and does home and homes with mid majors, because that means you can save money by merely going to their house once. They then whine when Miami pays market price to have someone come down.

This isn't a video game people, where you can schedule 4 Top 10 teams in your OOC, and they are all home games. Miami shouldn't tolerate neutral site games, because they become glorified road games in most cases, without the revenue that an eventual return trip usually entails. Miami should be working with programs that have shown a willingness to play home and homes(Nebraska, Penn State, etc), and avoid the trap and nonsense that is neutral sites. If you look at future schedules, Miami has a nice selection of OOC games, with some to be named later.

Is there a return trip to CMU?

And why are there not one but 2 games next year that we still haven’t scheduled? Is there any possibility that we’ll have to play 11 or even 10 games because it’s too late to find opponents?

based on what we are paying them, probably not.

IF we actually play them at their place and still pay them blake should be fired with cause

And we pay Arky State 400k for a game never played.

Keep that fundraising going, don't worry about being a real AD.

If the contract was drafted by an in house counsel, they should all be fired. If it's an outside firm the school hired, then sue them for malpractice. That was a pathetic contract that a first year law student could done a better job writing.

Pretty standard stuff for big programs to do. I prefer this to doing a home and home with Toledo and Arkansas State.

I'd rather have more neutral site games and play a real team than bleed out 7 figures to play a JC team.

That's just not the way college football works. At least not anymore. When we were coming up and didn't have a conference we had to play big schools to get the noticed. Today teams play their conference schedule, usually one other tough non conference opponent and then a coupe of softies. The risk does not outweigh the rewards to play a bunch of tough non conference game.

Leroy Hoard has been critical of us regarding this. We have 5 rings but don't act like it. Michigan doesn't travel to Arkansas State, they tell Arkansas they're welcomed to come to Ann Arbor and will cut them a check.

Paying another school to play a single home game at your place is standard business, and the asking price has skyrocketed in the last few years. 1.4 for Central Michigan is honestly a pretty standard deal. This doesn't happen for free. We don't get a "We're not as rich as Bama or A&M" discount. It guarantees us an extra home game. What is there to complain about here?

I don't get the *****ing about this. It's standard to pay teams for games, we know we don't want to give up home games to play **** teams on the road. This is standard operating procedure. We've already got either neutral site premier level P5 games and a couple P5 home and home's lined up for the next few years, so we need to line up some cupcakes to come to our house. If I'm buying season tickets, I want as many home games as possible.

Blake James should be getting accosted for allowing Dicht to hire his son and call the same 4 plays over and over again on the way to running the program into the ground, not for scheduling a winnable home game.

Hoard is a MORON. Miami has ALWAYS been willing to go to a midmajor and play. ECU, Cinci, USF, UCF, Appy State, Toledo the list goes on. WHY? Because UMiami was once that school looking for a shot. Schools like Michigan are trash, because they lack the stones to go play teams on the road. They came to our house, we will return the favor and destroy their program in the process. *

*This only applies to fellow FBS programs.
