Atlantic’s Shelton Johnson still undecided on where he’ll play
Shelton Johnson may wait until after National Signing Day to make a college decision.
The Atlantic defensive end will take an official visit to Miami this weekend before visiting Florida State the weekend before signing day, leaving him with one official visit at his disposal.
“If he’s not comfortable enough to make a decision on signing day, he’ll probably wait until after signing day,” Atlantic coach Tavarius Jackson said. “It’s all up in the air right now.”
The 6-foot-5, 220-pound prospect may take advantage of his one unused official visit if he isn’t convinced by Miami or Florida State. Jackson said Johnson would visit either Ohio State or North Carolina State after signing day if he still hasn’t made a college decision.
According to Jackson, Ohio State has made a “strong push” for Johnson recently. It has been a busy month for Johnson, as Michigan has also started to pursue him.
After receiving an offer from the Wolverines this month, he took an official visit to Michigan last weekend. But Johnson left the campus undecided.
“Shelton thought Michigan was OK,” Jackson said. “If he thought it was great, he probably would stop taking visits.”
Johnson, who is the only player among the PBgametime Class of 2015 Big Board top 10 who has not verbally committed to a school, finished with 104 tackles and 25 sacks as a senior. He was named The Palm Beach Post’s 2014 All-Area Large Schools Defensive Player of the Year.
