We have loads of depth at WR, and little at LB, due to some kids doing horribly stupid things. The kid is tall, athletic as heck, and can run. Like I said in another post, just because he played one position in high school doesn't mean it's the only one he can play, or even the best one for him. In high school a 6'4" fast guy creates a huge mismatch from the WR spot. In college that athleticism can be used in other areas. Remember, Warren Sapp was a TE coming in. Dan Morgan a FB. How did that turn out? High school coaches use guys where they feel they can help their team the best. College coaches, who are at a higher level for a reason, sometimes find other uses for them. I have absolutely no problem with a move like this.

Wonder if he was aware of this when we was recruiting him?1

Lmao I can't wait for the defenders to spin this one

Retards like you will spin anything into a bad light. I mean, I've never heard of a freshman offensive player switching over to defense before. I mean, what in the good name of DJ Williams /Dan Morgan is going on with this staff!!

Check twitter or the practice thread, Ive posted the majority of the tweets there in the original post -> http://www.canesinsight.com/threads/77161-DAY-10-PRACTICE-THREAD?p=1934160#post1934160

-Freshman WR David Njoku is moving to linebacker. Out here wearing No. 50, hitting the sled. #Canes
-Njoku move is sorta surprising, but #Canes need athleticism and depth at LB. WR 1 of the deepest spots on the team, w/ deep '14-16 classes
-Njoku doing what Denzel Perryman always does when he's not in: standing in center field next to D'Onofrio asking questions.

Stop with nonsense. Guys get moved all the time.

Not sure how I feel about taking the National High Jump champion and asking him to overhaul his body as a LB. But thats the good thing about opinions.

Spin what? Don't see anything to spin or defend. We're paper thin at LB with Figs and Blue gone and Kirby injured. Njoku played LB in high school as well, is tall, big, and fast, and would be way down on the depth chart at WR right now. Seems like the only one trying to spin an agenda is you.

Doesn't this kid own the state high jump record? Let's see 6'4", can jump and run. Sounds like good answer to all the tall TEs an WRs roaming around. I see a lot of blocked shots, I mean tipped passes. I have no problem with moving athletic guys who can score over to our defense. In the day, we put our best athletes on defense first and then moved some to offense. I like this kid and DC on defense. Nothing kills an opponent more than a defensive score.

What overhauling? He's already bigger than Grace and the same size as Owens. He was a future TE unless he starved himself or is fully developed at 18 years old.

With his length and athleticism, Njoku could develop into an absolute nightmare coming off the edge. We just need to see if he was a motor and the toughness need to play that position.

Guys on here are always crying about the lack of athleticism on defense. so we infuse some major athleticism there, and guys are still drowning in tears. We've got 25 WRs and we're struggling for depth at LB. And dudes are weeping over taking a guy who wouldn't sniff the field at WR this year and trying to help the defense with him.
