But you can’t fix stupidity. Ignorance can be fixed with information. But if you look at the quotes above you will see not ignorance but pure stupidity at a level that I’m shocked some of these folks are able to put on their own pants in the morning.

I know it’s almost pointless to continue the conversation because some people are normal, and some are just dumb as ****

But that class is a good example

One thing I’ve seen over the years is the fans identify a group of players that are often hyped years in advance, and base their entire thoughts on that group. Losing guys like DJ Pickett for example just made people even more unbearable when it came to that class. Which nevermind Antoine had some of the most ridiculous DB film I’ve ever seen

Before Mario if we missed out on that group of players then we replaced them with 2-3 star “evals” that no one else wanted. Mario is so thorough and relentless and weve given him so many resources, I just genuinely don’t even worry about recruiting anymore

I may be completely wrong this year but I sense that we are going so hard in recruiting this year because we are going a bit lighter on the portal (which is the opposite of that year)

Retention is going to be incredibly expensive so it feels like we are going to be aggressive with getting some of our 3rd years to come back, and then aggressive in high school, and cherry pick a smaller portal class

Could be wrong there though just the sense I get

Agreed. From Mario’s comments about portal QBs the plan is Nickel/Coleman. Would be pretty disappointing if we had to spend big in the portal again when we are finally landing blue chip prospects

I think what is ideal for Mario is heavy high school recruiting with the portal to fill holes. That entire philosophy was turned on its head the first few years because of our depleted roster.

Agreed. It’s a bit of a sliding scale just depending on who leaves and who flakes out in recruiting. Theres not one specific answer

But if you pay kids in high school and they’re good, you’re gonna have to pay them a lot to stick around down the road. Good portal players are so expensive because teams can get desperate

For example I’m glad we told Jordan Seaton to **** his own face btw. With Bell gone he thought he could hold us over the fire because we needed him. We don’t do that though

Great point about retention costs vs. single year costs. I’m not sure the analytics have determined yet which is the better investment as we only have a few years worth of data in an ever changing financial landscape. But I am sure that our analytics department will be at the forefront of that issue.
