Only because some people can’t evaluate recruiting classes. All we had from last year’s class are (2) freshmen all-Americans. One came in 2nd in the country in INT’s despite not starting and won a playoff game with an INT. The other lead the nation in receptions and broke every UM freshman receiving record.

Not to mention Josh Moore, Pringle, Upshaw, Antoine (who started the championship game!). If that was not a great class then the problem is the person doing the evaluating, and we have more than one of those fools on CIS because the “ranking” was not high enough. Well maybe, just maybe Toney and Fitzgerald should have been 5 stars because they outperformed every single freshman WR and safety ranked higher than them coming out of high school. Maybe if the rankings were correct the experts would have seen what our coaches saw.

But you can’t fix stupidity. Ignorance can be fixed with information. But if you look at the quotes above you will see not ignorance but pure stupidity at a level that I’m shocked some of these folks are able to put on their own pants in the morning.

I honestly wish we could ban some of these idiots but we have decided to live by the principle of free speech. And as the Supreme Court has taught us, free speech is meaningless if you don’t protect the most odious, revolting, reprehensible speech of all.

My problem is that some of these idiots double down, and never accept responsibility for not just being worng, but being so adamant in their absurd positions. That was my problem with Ariz. To have been wrong about Cam Ward before he played at UM is one thing. To then maintain that position about Cam 2 years later is a sign of being mentally challenged (as if his monkey boy dancing video from high school didn’t show early signs)

Some people put way too much belief in recruiting sites. They're fun to look at, especially when we're getting a few 5 stars. But at the end of the day, there's a reason the recruiting "experts" make a small fraction of what big-time college coaches make.

Our coaches do so much more than the “recruiting experts’ who primarily look at highlights, camp results and game film. They get to know the player/person and family. They are evaluating not only the physical talent but the mental makeup which is as or more important than how fast someone is (see Jeff Thomas). They are evaluating whether a player’s family will be a positive or negative influence. They are evaluating whether the young man has the study and work habits to be a productive member of a team.

It is impossible for the “recruiting experts” to do any of this. Which means their information is so much more limited than what our coaches have, which in turn means that the “experts” will have a much higher miss rate than our coaches.

How and why people on CIS cannot understand this never ceases to amaze me.

I took the family to Chattanooga a few weeks ago to see some nature and learned that is where Moon Pies are made. They are EVERYWHERE. Heupel is the perfect man to be running the outfit in TN.
