2027 David "DJ" Jacobs 5* DE from Roswell, GA (Blessed Trinity Catholic) Commits to OSU 2.0

Gaby:
A name that continues to come up is Roswell (Ga.) Blessed Trinity five-star EDGE DJ Jacobs. Miami nearly landed that first commitment but was ultimately left at the altar by the nation's No. 1 overall prospect. The Hurricanes have continued to chip away at the Buckeyes, and some feel like Miami is as alive as ever in that recruitment. This will continue to be a long-game recruitment, and the Canes will be patient.

Jacobs, Spell and maybe the DT committed to ND?

In the event this kid doesn’t come, could we get Ghioto to just reclass up like Amir? We have a need there after Lowe crashed out and this kid makes me uneasy

Not in favor of DL reclassifying. They need to more physically mature before entering college. If they reclassify, then the first year is a redshirt year with zero contribution

What’s even harder is being able to graduate high school in 2.5 years. Especially when the explosion of 7 v 7 football and all the different camps colleges do

You are discounting the enormous boost a strategic reclassification can have for your recruiting strategy. Take Blount for example; we basically landed a 5 star at one of the most intensely battled for positions in the game with maybe 5% of the effort normally required. He not only shrank the recruiting timeline by a year but did so somewhat unexpectedly when some of what would have been our fiercest competitors were caught off guard and focused on the current year's recruits still. That is HUGE.

I get your points and they are valid, but for 2 years Blount really hasn’t contributed that much. He was rotational last half of the season. He wasn’t physically ready. I’m expecting a breakout season this year.

He contributed quite a bit last year…crucially at times….but I tend to agree in most circumstances that they need that extra year
