Davante Phillips

Lulz at this staff and lulz at any pathetic slurpers that for one second thought we were landing this kid. If Al isnt fired by Monday, this program will hit lows we have not seen in most of our lifetimes. We are about to fall apart and this will include the 2016 class. By the time Al is finally fired we will be in worse shape then when Coker got fired. Then once again nobody will want the job.

The incompetence of this admin is staggering. They will save a couple of million with the buyout but in turn lose tens of millions in the long run. Unless something happens quick, it will get so ugly it will be sad.

ONLY reason I thought he could possibly come here is what a great source told me. If that makes me a sluper then whatever. Although I don't think you were referring to me specifically.

Follower.... easy to be a follower and not a leader..

We've already proven there are hardly any leaders if any in our locker room..

Thats cool though whose gonna throw the ball when Jamies is gone?

They have a number of 4 star QBs committed to them. They'll be fine.

I just read where good chance if James leaves, that Braxton Miller from OSU might come in for a year. Don't know about his injury, or if he will even be ready to play next year. Regardless, they could have 5 - four star kids next year, and the top ranked junior QB in country coming the year after that.

Who cares. It's out of our control. No reason to get so worked up. We all knew this would happen anyway. Golden is trash. Until he's gone, we will lose guys in South Fl like this.

“I like the fact that it’s not home, but it feels like home. I really like Lawrence Dawsey and coach (Tim) Brewster. I have a good relationship with them,” Phillips said.
Phillips also has a brotherly bond with FSU running back Dalvin Cook, the duo won a pair of State Championships together at Miami Central.

“It’s going to be good to reunite with Dalvin (Cook) and do what we did in high school,” Phillips said.
The success of Florida State’s offense doesn’t depend on one player and that’s something that Phillips appreciates.

“I like that FSU runs it and throws it, feed my boy bro, feed the wide receivers, everybody eats.”
In the end Phillips says the decision came down to two schools - Florida State and Miami.

“Miami was the hardest school to say no to. At the end of the day it’s about what is best for me. I’m not worried about what other people think. That’s it,” Phillips said.

“It’s crazy that I’m about to go off to college and start something new," Phillips said.
The experience at Under Armour brought him closer to some of the other Florida State commitments that are playing in this game.

I agree with the all time low stuff but I can promise you that as long as Miami has a football team, someone will want the job. You win at Miami you go to the NFL. Granted the good coaches only come and stay for 5-6 years, if that, they will come. It's just too easy to win 10 games a year here.

Al golden was supposed to be the next "big time" young head coach. Clearly he was a big time bust. But once the staff either decides to target an established proven head coach that can match his scheme with SFla talent or get a true up and coming big time coach that isn't a bust, we will be right back to doing what Howard, Dennis, JJ, and Butch were doing.

Like when nobody wanted the job when Coker was fired or when Randy was fired? As long as we stay cheap the only way we get back to the top is if we have a proactive administration that will identify an up and comer who will move on after 3-5 years. You are correct that our location makes it that any competent coach can succeed here, but any competent coach can succeed anywhere. So when a coach is looking at coaching at Miami with great local recruiting resources, okay facilities, and less than or around 2 mil vs mediocre local recruiting, great facilities and 3+ mil, more often than not people are taking the money.

So our only hope is a proactive administration, and at this point an Indonesian Airline is more reliable than that hope…...

Of course I wasn't referring to you. Its the frustration on where we are and then remembering being lectured to by all the mouth breathers on here about how everything was okay, when the reality is that it hasn't been even remotely okay since NSD 2013 where we got played like lil *******. Collins wasn't a loss, neither was Cook cause Yearby was better. Last year's class was a top 3 class everything is great, its a top 10 class everything is great, we signed Al's best class everything is great. Lane sucks anyway, Rudolph is decent but WRs grow on trees, we got Snelson, oh wait not anymore, but that's okay its only 2014, we have time. I can go on and on, but many of us, some earlier than later saw that this was all BS.

FSU is arguably the #1 program in the country, is on a 29 game unbeaten streak, and is the defending national champs. Why would any kid want to play for a 6-7 program with its coach on the hot seat over that?

Until this program shows a pulse, expect this to continue to happen. LOL at people getting upset about this.

I don't think anyone is surprised by it at all.

I'm not upset or surprised. We had no chance at a big time WR in our backyard, that says it all.

I'm just amazed at how far Golden has sunk the program in the last 4 years. This is by far the lowest we have been in the last 30 years IMO. Worse yet, the admin doesn't care. By not firing him now we ruin the 2016 class as well as this one. ****** time to be a Canes fan.

Kid has been committed to FSU for over a year now as fr as I'm concerned. Miami never had a chance regardless of what anyone says.
