The reason why some of our blue chip recruits lose a star when they commit to Miami is bcuz we don't have a strong track record of putting players into the 1st round.
He said the star system is mainly based upon projections of whether the players will actually going into the league and has less to do with how good they are.

5 star players are projected to go 1st round, but if they choose a school like Miami, that projection changes due to our poor player development.

Can anyone more verify this? Is this legit?

What a bs system then. Sad.

That makes zero sense. So does that five star that switched to JSU become unranked now?
I guess if the player is a top 15 Top 25 player it doesn't matter where he ends up. His rating is so high that the assumption is he will still make it to the league.
This is my guess 🤷🏾‍♂️

Yeah according to what they said a couple years ago the star rankings are based on where they see the player getting drafted. And by the end of the recruiting year there should be around 32 5 stars on 247 to signify the 32 1st round picks. According to them it has nothing to do with performance in the NFL or really even college to some degree. Many raw athletes with great potential and testing scores get selected in the top rounds without the stats in college

So in theory it does make sense if they think we suck at developing players, hence why the Alabama bump happens. Every year they churn out 1st round talents so they rather give a Alabama player a 5 star compared to Miami if they are even close to the same talent. Heck NFL scouts will more likely give an Alabama player their first round pick rather than a Miami player if they are relatively close in talent. They also have this bias based on recent performance.

But at the end i think it has more to do with subscribers and keeping the star ***** fan base happy. Way too many recruits to know the INS and outs and compare between each and everyone. Maybe for the 5 stars but not the 4 and below

He was on with the footballville guys and was explaining the star system. It‘s total bull****, but in their defense they can’t come out and admit that it’s partially based on the subscriber numbers associated with certain schools. He has to throw something else out ther.
