dalvin cook interview today

Did someone really say Cook is the most important recruit this year? Good grief people are delusional.

You apparently missed the memo. The most important recruits in any class are the ones who pick other teams. Happens every year.

I find it hilarious a poster called "d wins titles" thinks a RB (when we have 2 committed already) is more important than defensive lineman.

I disagree. I've seen a number of videos of top RBs, including Yearby and Powell, but nobody can torch you from anywhere on the field the way Cook can. He's a bomb waiting to go off. Whether he'll be able to do that consistently against topflight college defenses, I don't know. I remember we had a slow defense pretty much contain Bo Jackson in '84, but I don't know if our defense now could stop Cook at FSU. I shudder to think of our current defense trying to contain Cook all game long.

And as good as Chad is, I'm not so sure he's as out-of-this-world good as you make him out to be. Let's see what he does when he plays with the big boys. And don't get me wrong, I'm really high on him.

How big are you talking here?

I've seen that video. So what? It's a drill. It's not a game. So he managed to knock a HS fatboy on his ***. He did it a bunch of times, as I recall. I also remember reading that Chad was pretty much handled by an OL when they played a school from Las Vegas, I believe. Now, Chad was playing inside, so he was not at the position he will play in college. I remember, though, how elite Chick was supposed to be, as was Allen Bailey, who was supposed to be a superman. Both turned out to be solid, but not spectacular college DEs. Let's see if Chad turns out to be extraordinary, elite, non pareil, or just another good college DE. I hope the former, I suspect the latter. (Odds are always on the latter.)

that is not just a "high school fat boy" , that is one of the top ranked offensive linemen in the country, 5 star Damian Mama. I expect Chad to have a little more of an impact than AQM in his first year because he is going to be coming in heavier and has a bigger frame than AQM.

I hope you know that Seantrel was a 5 star and also when ur bigger like my man Prince is u kill HS DE's. He needs to be taught and maybe in a year or 2 this wont happen to him............1 on 1's mean **** to be honest especially OL vs DL. Its still impressive but cmon now.

C'mon now..........
Bottom line is a poster questioned whether or not Thomas can do it against the 'big boys', and in response another poster answered with a GIF of Chad owning a top flight OL that everybody wants. You are right you never fully know what you are going to get, but Chad Thomas moved up the ranking by being a beast DL at camps that had the best of the best and he routinely stood out. To the point where Rivals had him go from being a top 200 kid to a top 50 national player by end of the summer. Than during the season, he once again routinely played out of position at DT and did **** good. I will lament and be ****ed as **** if we lose studs like Cook or Sony, but you gotta stay consistent, and Chad Thomas is an elite DE, elite. He is a kid that has a great frame, is quick enough to be a monster pass rushing and deceptively strong making him stout in the run game. He is by far the best DE in the state since Fowler.....

Can we get a poll going... ?

Most important recruit for 2014

A. Cook
B. Valentine
C. Hester
D. Yearby

Can substitute Kaaya if you see fit

Valentine with everyone else being behind....

anyone saying otherwise is an idiot and oblivious to our current depth and state

Travonte Valentine and Anthony Moten are the most important recruits in South Florida, at least from Miami's perspective. Let me know if Cook can plug up the middle of the line on defense.

This...

Lets all remember Yearby was the #1 running back for central getting most of the carries for that team and he's an EE to Miami. The sky is hardly falling.

He is the best at worst 1b to C Thomas. Is he the most important? Absolutely not but he is still important. Best offensive prospect in Dade, and at a position of need. Like everyone has said, DT is numero uno, but we have issues at RB.

RB depth is no doubt an issue but next year we have Duke, Gus, Crawford Yearby. No doubt cook may be an elite talent but RB will be a huge strength next year as long as Duke is healthy.

There will be another Cook in the next cycle to freak out about.

The thing holding us back from playing with the big boys is the front 7 on defense and we have a great class coming in there.

Didn't he pretty much spill the beans with this interview? 1. He's not playing with Yearby any more. 2. He's talking about being loyal, and how Florida had a down year, but blah blah blah, but so did Auburn and look at them now. I'm not a mind reader, but I can read between the lines. He's saying he's sticking with his commitment to Florida.

No biggie. Don't we need more stud defensive players?

Wow. Mindblown. I never saw his name as d wins titles. I always though his name was Derrick Winstitles or something. No joke.

No my friend, there has been a whole lot more than just our front 7 on defense keeping us back from playing with the big boys. Take a look at our offensive outputs against FSU, UF, KState, and ND the last two years. Those were pretty much the marquee games we have played. I guess you could throw in VT also, but bottom line is that we had trouble scoring in most of those games. Also dont take it the wrong way but that statement about a Cook next cycle, drives me crazy. On one hand I believe you are right because Scarlett is a mega stud, but the reality is that there isnt always another Cook the next cycle. We have to land the top local kids, I know I sound like a broken record but it's just the simple truth.

Nah nah try again, I think uncommited SFLA targets that are elite are important. So AG send the horses to his house and recruit the **** out of him because hes that important.

And we are still not going to overtake fsu till we get more elite DT t come to UM, this class is a start but I dont expect an impact next year

Cook is a luxury not a necessity. So the reason we struggled to score the last 2 years against top teams was because we had Duke as the starter and the year before Duke and Mike James, who was starting in the NFL this year at one point before getting hurt??????
