DAILY DEBATE: Who was the most impressive player you saw last weekend?

You forgot to mention the check downs to Brown.
100% and guess what that saved, being sacked! Because you know when you’re a quarterback, if you hold onto the ball for too long, always looking for the home run play, sometimes you did end up getting a face mask in the chest.

The first TD to Toney was an NFL level play between him maneuvering in pocket, side stepping left and then throwing off back foot.

Unfortunately to me that was the only elite NFL throw we saw. There were a few shots deep he missed imo, but overall it was a good (not great) performance. Which is expected for the secondary he was facing.
Judging from the build up leading up to the game their was virtually no result that could have changed his opinion. I'm just glad he didn't "cost us the game" the way our last QB would have.

Toney was one of the best WRs I saw all weekend running his routes and of course taking competition we played

The UTSA running back was pretty fun to watch he was running all over that Aggie defense… without away speed on a defense that has Elko talent and coaching

Bain was dominant.... but we've been expecting that. Who actually impressed me more was Mesidor. He looked liked the fastest dl we've had in a while.

Tony was impressive of course but what I was more impressed with was Mario starting him at PR also... and how natural he caught the punts.

Non Canes- Issac Brown might be the best back in college. **** sure looks like the fastest.

I saw a lot of sophomores struggle as expected

These crowns we give freshmen are often adjusted once teams are ready for them

There also was some really boring football to watch. Granted some tough games for some of the superstars but still…

I’d say Bain given the aura we were fed about NDs line. Agree with those saying Caleb Downs. He makes you shake your head how good he is while also being a good leader and teammate.

Castellanos is up there but Bama was the softest team I saw all weekend.

Ryan Williams was the dude we’ve all known on the field at some point. Super talented and when things don’t go his way he pretends he’s hurt. Bama has big problems

Everyone rewriting the narrative on Castellanos following 1 game is funny.
I mean the question was who was most impressive in one game

He was impressive

More to do with Bama not being up to the challenge of Malzahns offense and then folding like charmin toilet paper but still

I also don’t think FSU will be some juggernaut but he beat Bama which I get it is not Saban’s Bama but we all assumed FSU would be a 4 or so win team lol
Folks severely underestimated him before the Bama game. I had cautioned some folks that he's like one of these GT QBs over the years. Not much of a thrower, but can run, play clock control, elude rushers and extend drives. But if you jump on his team and force him to pass, night night. Now, the narrative on this site is overestimating him.

Even funnier when you realize Tommy was what Tommy always has been. He ain’t gonna beat you with his arm. 152 yards passing, same **** different day. If ANYTHING I came away with FSU being more physical than Bama. There’s plenty of QBs who could’ve won that game for Noles, which speaks volumes of the trench work.

Bama and ND both had under 100 yards rushing. Miami and FSU bullied them boys in the trenches.

If you catch Castellanos on a good day it’s easy to buy into what it could look like. The problem, and why I was shocked FSU went for him, is while he’s good for these types of upsets/close calls against good(?) teams, he will also throw up some absolute stinkers and be the reason his team gets crushed by some middle of the road teams. Saturday was the former, but he’ll one hundred percent be the reason they lose some game against a UVA or NCSU type team.

In many ways, he's CJ Carr. If you let FSU pick up yards on 1st and 2nd down and you have 3rd and <5, Castellanos is dangerous. However, if you win 1st and 2nd down and force him into 3rd and long, odds are FSU drive is over. He'll convert some 3rd downs and make some plays. We'll have to force FSU to go the field and can't give them easy yards or quick scores. If we can jump on them and put them in a hole and change their game plan, the game can get ugly in our favor quickly.

As far as a Cane it was Malachi Toney. He caught a TD, Stretched the defense, blocked, and didn't make any mistakes on punt returns as he was very secure with catching the football. For a non Cane it was easily CJ Carr. He played in a very hostile environment and he was the reason this game was so close. Think about this and if you're not impressed then I think you should evaluate another sport. The kid is a freshman, playing in an extremely hostile enviroment, was instrumental in all three of ND scores, and was very poised while being unbelievably elusive. The kid has all the goods and he made some great plays. For all you naysayers that literally torched Castellanos I say this. He is going to be a thorn in our side in a big way if he stays healthy.
