DAILY DEBATE: What are your expectations for TVD at Wisconsin?

Won’t pay much attention but will be rooting for him in the few Wisconsin games I watch… it was all mental with him and Dawson and Mario were clearly no help.he looked like a completely different guy between the Lashlee and Mario years.

I definitely expect him to be better than last year cuz it couldn’t get much worse. He did have all day to throw in most games and continued to throw it to the wrong team tho so it will be interesting to see if that continues or if a change of coaching style does him right.

He needs to come up with a topic every day... and y'all are on crack if you think there wont be a mega thread on here if TVD tears it up there.

I post these Daily Debates based on what I see people talking about. If an interesting question pops up in my head that is out of left field, I'll post that, too. But the article about TVD in the Wisconsin scrimmage was sent to every single Canes group chat I'm in. Canes fans seem to care.

Entertaining question D and worth the flack you’ve received.

It’s funny how many in our fan base reference the good old days which requires one to fire up a VHS to have a reference for the last time we were a reputable program. Many of those same people somehow have an issue when anything TVD comes up because he’s in the program’s past now.

Humbly I say he shows flashes of greatness. Those flashes of greatness will be overrun by poor decisions, poor leadership, poor body language, and overall maddening performances for their fan base (couldn’t happen to a better group of fans).

Word from up there is he’s the same emotionally/mentally fragile guy who doesn’t work or commit himself nearly as much as the guy behind him. Sound familiar?
From Wisky faithful I'm close to...

The Badgers have massive buyer's remorse with TVD and are openly questioning Fickell's decsion to waste a QB room slot on Tyler Van Interception Hammerstein

Canes play the Gators in 3 weeks and you want to talk about TVD? :youre-nuts: Poor guy got stuck with 3 different OC’s and played injured much of the time. I hope he has a great year.

I predict that he will follow the same path he has since 2021: flashes of brilliance followed by looking like he’s never seen a zone defense in his life. He will inevitably get hurt and miss multiple games because he’s never played a full season. Wisky fans will hate him and we will be cheering for our heisman contending QB down the stretch

TVD was night and day after GT sat back and dropped 8 into coverage. Hard to say if TVD was just too far gone, or if Dawson really could have done more to make him feel comfortable and attack that approach.

In the beginning of the year at least, Canes will lowkey be watching out for him to get a feel for what we really have here, the same way they watched Kirby Smart at UGA in the beginning of the Richt era.

I think he plays OK. Less spot light.. His struggles won't be magically fixed, but he'll improve because of solid coaching and masking/limiting what he's not good at

He'll put up modestly improved numbers, and they'll win 8-10 games and he'll get some NFL sniffs

Or, I could be totally wrong and he gets benched by week four. It just depends on how well the coaches avoid throwing against zone and how much they limit his exposure to the media/criticism

For Mario’s sake, he better not have a good year or the perception grows louder
If he starts off hot like he did with us a couple times, and DOESN'T get injured he very well could have an excellent season. There is no arguing that when he is on his game, he is very good. The problem is he gets injured and then starts forcing everything. Don't know if it's him trying to prove himself or what, but it's a massive mental issue with him. I have no ill feeling towards him. It didn't work out with us, good luck at Wisconsin and I hope he's gotten good support from a psychologist.

And his health. Mario trotted that dude out on one leg for half his starts the last two seasons because we had no other quarterbacks. He isn’t afraid to take a hit in the pocket but that also gets him hurt too often. If he’s healthy, he’s a streaky but effective player. If he’s hurt, he’s not worth playing.
He had some pretty severe injuries. Multiple injuries at times, too

Who cares? Why isn't this even a daily debate? I hope he plays great, and we end up playing Wisconsin in the playoffs
