Dabo to the Texans?

You ever hear the Zach Thomas Nick Saban story?

Dabo would get it 10x worse.
I disagree with this. Saban is a curmudgeon. He's not a player's coach. Conversely, Dabo is very personable and seemingly very well-liked. I think he has the personality to jive in the NFL. He's far closer to Pete Carroll than Saban. I think he could thrive in the NFL although if I was advising him, I'd tell him to stay put in college. But these guys all have such huge egos. It's plausible he wants a new challenge. Since 2015, he's an astonishing 72-5. Maybe he gets bored??

I could see him testing the NFL waters but then bolting when he realizes it is not what it is cracked up to be.
We have seen that movie before many times.

Dabo's shtick is perfect for college. Doubt he leaves Clemson for the NFL. Not even sure he'd want to follow Saban at Bama at this point.
If he were to leave for the NFL I can imagine the allure of working with Watson again is a huge draw.

I could see it from Dabo's perspective.

He goes to the NFL for a new challenge.

Even if (when) he flames out, he'll be a hot commodity in college.

P5 programs will be lining up for a guy with two national championship rings.

Can't see it happening.

Dabo is a control freak, and the pros are a different animal.
Agreed...but one thing all great/successful coaches have in common, regardless of level, is a HUGE ego. I can see him being tempted if they offer him Gruden money with close to but not full control.

What's the story?

I believe what he's referring to is that a player had passed out in the facility (heat, maybe? I don't recall.) Supposedly, he's just lying in the middle of the hallway with folks tending to him and Saban supposedly steps over him and keeps going about his business like nothing.

I just don't see what would make an NFL team want to hire him. Most guys that make the jump are very innovative either on offense or defense. He just seems to be a good CEO who has made great hires. I guess that is part of being a good coach though.

Dabo and saban are college coaches for one reason and one reason only.

Power.

Dabo and Saban are more popular and powerful than most politicians in their state.
This is why the nfl goes for coaches like the Baylor dude. Those are guys who haven’t gotten to the legendary or godlike status of those coaches like The pedophile coverup king at pedo state or Bowden at FSPOO.

Dabo and saban love the power they have more than the sport and the players and staff. Those things are just a means to an end.
I doubt Dabo bounces to the league.

The only way I see Dabo leaving to the nfl is if he sees it as a way of getting to bama without Clemson swallowing that poison pill clause.

Which happens first? Dabo to the NFL or Dabo to Bama?
I don't know why but I keep thinking that there was a noncompete clause in Dabo's most recent contract with CU stating he could not go to Alabama. Not sure where I am getting that from. Any truth to it?

Oh yeah. Consider Manny + Enos vs. Manny + Lashlee.

What's the story?
Thomas did something wrong in a particular defense. Edwards corrected him from the sideline. Thomas yelled to correct him later. Get on with the scrimmage, Thomas said.

Saban stopped practice. He stomped toward Thomas.

"Next time a coach is talking to you, you shut the f--- up!" he yelled.

Thomas yelled for Saban to shut up, that he wasn't some kid. "I'm a grown-*** man!" Thomas roared, ripping off his helmet. They got in each other's face. Teammates pulled Thomas back.

"I will bench you!" Saban yelled.

"Bench me!" Thomas yelled.

It wasn't the only time a player was pulled from Saban. Struggling quarterback Daunte Culpepper screamed at Saban at being replaced by Joey Harrington the next year to the point Taylor separated the two in a practice.

It's football. Emotion happens. But the Thomas story, confirmed by four witnesses, became legendary inside the team. The immediate reaction was telling. As one player related, he went up to Thomas later that day and said, "You're my hero."

"And I wasn't alone," the player says all these years later. "I know other guys went up to Zach and said that for how he stood up to Nick."
