with all due respect, how are posts like these going to help with our future? we know that recruits read these posts so now we're just gonna give them more reasons why they shouldn't come here? i'm not necessarily pro Golden, but I just wants what's best for my school's football program

"Was"? Are you saying scouts were saying he was better than their 2 first round draft picks? Bleak, I dig your posts and usually I see eye to eye with you but your ability to think logically on this one is off kilter. My guess is that you are a bit too close to the family to have an unbias opinion? Because Smith and Pryor were animals on the field. As for scouts saying he was the best, you have to learn to dismiss scouts' takes. After years of following the draft and hearing things they say, I find a lot of their evaluations/comments about players questionable.

You might not understand how the draft process works. Production doesn't matter as much as you think. If a kid has the tools,,coaches let scouts know........ Word gets around. Some kids are good college players, but will there tools translate to the league? Not 100 but I'm pretty sure keith was a freshman all American.

Just like Deon bush will be drafted. Tools. Olivier Vernon didn't do **** the year he came out, 3rd round pick ,balls in the league.

Not to nitpick, but Vernon didn't have an injury history and Bush has played a lot. further, Vernon plays a niche position that is in very high demand in the pros and he also happens to have tremendous measureables. Does Brown do either of those?

I think Terry had some beastly potential, just too much Goon in him. Witt got the concussions.

I get that Brown would've been a solid pick-up but I'm not going to bash the staff for not being held hostage by a recruit pandering for an offer for his brother.

another thing this staff doesnt really do the package deal stuff as we saw from sony last cycle, to me keith wasnt as good to do that, but sony is a different story

If recruits are truly reading these boards there are far more damning things being said to hurt their recruitment than Verns stories. Just look at the last few welcome to the U threads and see the new commits getting lambasted by our fanbase as evidence.

If recruits are truly reading these boards there are far more damning things being said to hurt their recruitment than Verns stories. Just look at the last few welcome to the U threads and see the new commits getting lambasted by our fanbase as evidence.

i know for a fact that recruits read these boards, some get turned off some dont care, like i said it depends on the recruit

this story could have a negative effect on some kids but there are some worst stories that other top schools have done to recruits that arent really said

Not really sure how they screwed up, Brown wanted a schollie for his brother and the satff was honest and didn't budge. They might have been stubborn to a fault but don't know if I would say they screwed up.

...and due to that, we look worse to a kid who takes stock in stuff on here or other message boards. Look anywhere else, and you won't see Bama, L$U, F$U, or Clemple fans airing out their dirty laundry or bad coaching moves. They may criticize certain things, but they're not going out of their way to reveal stories they're "connected" to, just for the sake of writing a "bleak vision" of their staff.

It's a god**** joke. And it may not affect every kid, but if will some...and we can't afford to shallow out the pool of recruits that Golden & Co can go after due to getting ****ed over recruiting and deciding to clean the skeletons out of the closet with these uncorroborated stories.

Yeah i was very upset when Witt had to quit football we havent been able to catch breaks with really good players. Josh Witt ,Angelo Jean-Louis , Derrick Griffin, Ryheem Lockley , Kevin Grooms . i mean a lot of talent never even hit the field for us.

Appreciate the information but I think most knew the story.

The family used Brown to get his brother a scholarship so that is also part of the story. I don't blame our staff or any other for not offering Atkins because he wasn't worthy of an offer.

I do agree that this staff isn't as good a recruiting staff as people think. Even Coley's influence has been pretty silent for 2015 so far.

you won't know his influence until February 2015. furthermore, he's seen by many as 1 of the top recruiters in the conference/country & his track record speaks for itself. oh yea he got us our future starting QB & RB in last year's recruiting cycle

That is why I said so far. Coley kind of save our *** last year, good chance we go 0-3 on the elite SFla backs last year with out him. Obviously Kaaya was a huge pull. I think overall he is a star recruiter.

Doesn't mean this cycle hasnt started slow with the SFla studs. Obviously it is not all his fault and things can change and that is why I said so far.
