Cristobol chew out Frosh for celebrating.......

Will he do it again? Unlikely.

Was it over the top? I don't think so, but people are soft as **** today. Oregon has a chance to do something special this year and while they ended up way ahead, that maybe costs them later in the year.

You also can't say he embarrassed that young man. The action of the player was what led to it, he was correcting it.

This.

One of Manny's biggest problems is he doesn't hold these guys accountable for selfish mistakes or lackadaisical play. This has nothing to do with alphas vs. betas or whatever faux machismo and hyper-masculinity bs that gets thrown around this site.

Does it need to be to the extent Mario went to last night? It could be simply making the kid sit for a quarter. At least do something to show him and the rest of your team that it hurts the team and won't be tolerated.

Luigi should have been just as mad that his vaunted Ducks team struggled at home against an 0-3 Arizona team that just lost to an FCS opponent the previous week.
And nobody wants to mention that his senior defense player that hit player way out of bounds and got a penalty didn't miss a play and wasn't chewed out...and Zona drive continued which ended in a TD.
But carry on.....smh

this board will be a fun place when the Ducks drop a game in Pac12 play...it's coming.
I think I'll choose the cheddar popcorn that day...

There are mistakes of aggression, and mistakes of stupidity. Either Jimmy or Dennis quote. If you coach playing fast and physical you have to accept the occasional personal foul.

No excuse for catching a pass and then spinning the ball and posing. Especially when you cost your team a FG opportunity in a close game.

The kid played later, and I’m cool with that. First offense probably. Won’t happen again.

Honestly i dont care for antics like that. You can teach a kid without embarrassing him. I know its probably not a popular opinion, but that kid got the point in the first *** chewing session. No need to do it 3 more times.
Agreed. I am all for admonishings kids and holding them accountable. But, Mario walking towards the kid and throwing the headset in his direction. The continued yelling and demonstrations was over the top. Slap him on the top of his helmet, let him know what he just did and what it costs the team. Then tell him to have a set for a while. Message would be received.

Bring him home

The most impressive part of that scene wasn't Cristobal. Instead, the kid kept eye contact the entire time. Either he trusts the **** out of Cristobal or the kid was raised like a G. Or both. Really impressive from that kid. He made a mistake and was completely accountable. Great attitude on getting ripped.

And? No excuse to come out flat against such a mediocre U of A team. Yes, they won, because across the board, they have far superior talent. Let's see what happens when they have to play someone that isn't one of the least talented teams in P5.

I will say this though, I hope Fisch gets a fair shake in Tucson. You can tell that he's embracing the old letterwinners, he's trying to create buzz, but it's going to take YEARS to fix the things Rich Rod and Sumlin did to that program. So many years of awful recruiting, so many years of neglecting local talent, so many years of institutional neglect.

A lot of our fans are meatheads. A lot of them don't know what real leadership looks like. Mario was over the top, he was borderline out of control. Saban and others may yell, they may scream, but it's a calculated anger. Just flying off the handle is stupid and leads to guys tuning you out eventually.

here’s my question, is this the first time this kid earned a dumb flag for something like that?

if so, then I believe Mario was way over the top and looked like a spoiled brat throwing a tantrum.

now, if this has been a ongoing issue, then I can understand why he looked like a spoiled brat throwing a tantrum.

Agree 100%

I typed this before I read your post.
It doesn't matter what you or I or the guy on TV thinks.
What matters is that the player didn't flinch and handled it perfectly.

Why is this newsworthy? We know Cristobal doesn't hide anything.
So if it's not crystal clear by now, If you're the type of player that doesn't handle this stuff well, DON'T be surprised if Cristobal gets in you're face.

Nah, because if he's consistently doing stupid crap, then he shouldn't have been on the field. It's obvious that this young person is used to being screamed at, hence why he just sat there and took it.

You make your point, and go from there. Frankly, the best way to get through to a knucklehead is to eventually stop dealing with them. I had a coach, that if you screwed up often enough, you'd end up on the bench AND he wouldn't say a **** thing to you. From the guys that I played with that got that treatment, they to a man admit that the silence and Coach giving up on you hurt way more than any amount of yelling.

Or, like a lot of people that grew up in abusive homes and chaotic situations, they can just put up with things that others won't.

There's nothing wrong with hard coaching, but this was a bit extra.
