Which is why matching all that is really our only option. We've all spent two decades here trying to get the school to hire an X and Os advantage because thats what the school needed to succeed. It's probably why I like Kiffin more than Mario even now, because I want a tactical edge no matter what. We've had 5 tries to get that right, failing miserably. Kiffin would work, but we've faded to far for a flash of competitive spirit to matter for long. We need to subvert expectations to maintain, let alone rebuild, our national brand, and short term success won't be viewed as turning a corner.

Now it's going to something like a quarter of billion this decade not just to catch up, but to make sure they know we're serious. Tom Jurich (or equivalent) + Stadium announcement would be a logical first step.
Genuinely, what's wrong with the stadium?

I get that it's 30+ mins from campus, but this isn't a university that relies on students to fill up the stadium.

Stadium announcement? LOL - you just lost all credibility.

Oregon couldn’t keep Willie Taggart.

The biggest concern with Mario isn’t the facilities. It’s the players he recruited. He wants to coach them and believes he can win big. That’s what we need to overcome.
Honestly I don't think it's the facilities, the Nike money (I hate calling it 'Nike money' - it's Phil Knight's money) and the players he's recruited.

With where the two programmes currently are, Cristobal would be INSANE to leave Oregon for Miami. He's halfway through building a perennial Playoff contender there - he can dominate that conference for the forseeable future. Miami is a ground up rebuild (albeit we can quickly get rolling).

The ONLY way he comes to the U is if he makes an emotional decision to come back home. That's our shot - evidently we're shooting it. Essentially we're this:

FSU was truly Willie’s dream job and he would’ve left a lot of places for it. Is Mario’s dream job really Miami? Are we going to raise the Pool of salary for on field and off field staffers? Up the recruiting budget and make necessary facility upgrades? If we do that I think we can get Mario. He makes the playoff this year we can forget about it cause he is never coaching here if that happens.

Not only do I really like the stadium, I live north of it. That just would be a particularly effective piece to work with in the current environment. You can replace "Stadium Announcement" with any comparably massive investment in the program and it would all be the same to me.

Josh Pate on 247 was just talking about Miami and Cristobal. He said that when Miami folks say that money won't be an option they are talking mainly about coaching salaries. He says that Oregon's commitment to Mario is much bigger than that. Phil Knight and the AD give him everything that he asks for. When he asked for access to private jets for his entire staff, they gave it to him. He thinks that there is no way that UM can match all of the benefits provided by Oregon.
They don’t need private jets to get to Carol city or BTW when they’re working in Miami.

Didn’t D$ go to Belen?
Could be. When I googled D$ his fan page linked to a warp zone in Super Mario World where I had to fight off explayers to get to unlock other head coaching options.

It was incredible. Andrew was there dressed as a flying turtle yelling about manny.

He’s lost 1 game this year in OT

Every other they’ve handled business pretty easily including beating OSU in the horseshoe

If he loses 1 other close one, which could def happen Saturday night at Utah, I don’t think it blemishes him that much to the fan base

You are incorrect, the Oregon fan base thinks he has made a habit of losing games he shouldn't and that he will always blow a chance at the playoffs. Crazy as it may sound, many think he's hit his ceiling and Oregon can do better.

The Zo hire (based on what some people are predicting) will be an unmitigated disaster. Look I like Zo but you are going to bring him in to run only football essentially relegating the new AD to lead everything else besides football? I can’t tell you how crazy that sounds no capable AD is coming here under those terms.

The new AD needs to clean house from top to bottom and bring in his own own people. Anything else you might as well bring another puppet/stooge to do the bidding for The BOTs.

If I’m a legit AD and Miami comes calling the first thing I’m asking them is wtf are they thinking when it comes to Zo. You want me to come be the AD in Miami but give up control of the largest revenue generating sport in my department? You’re out of your gat **** mind. They need to nip this in the bud before we ruin the program even further.

And some fans think this is a good idea. Lmao.

This. A loss to Utah this weekend and I think they'll lose, the fanbase will start to turn on him.

Already said this before, but: I say we already have our AD and we can only make it official once the regular season is over.
Why does it matter when it's official? AD oversees all sports so when the football season is over, we're in middle of the bball season.

So your logic makes no sense and also, we do not have our AD just yet.

He can bring 32 of them with him 😃
