I’m not going to get into the names here. If you want to message me, I’ll give you the breakdown. 25 is pretty easy.

It's not some big secret. I listed 12 names. I think 6 is not hard, but again, the discussion about what "could happen" involves getting any extra counters, which would require MORE attrition.

Six players of attrition won't be THAT hard. Never said it would be, just need to find the rationale. But I'm not counting out guys just because certain people don't like what they've done/not done to date.

Lack of attrition will never be a problem for miami,we have cats racing each other to declare for the draft after getting their grade as 6th,7th rounders and free agents.

See, that's an angle that none of us have really considered before today.

It’s not a big secret but your numbers are a little bit off and I don’t want to start listing off guys who won’t be brought back in 21. We were at 83 with Rousseau now 82.
There are at least 25 spots. If the NCAA grants IC relief, we can probably go 2 or so more. That would depend on some NFL entrees or a younger guy transferring. All possible.

Please cut the crap with walk-ons. My numbers are not "off". I provided the full list on another thread, I even numbered it so that people wouldn't ask "what about the walk-ons".

There are NOT 25 spots without non-walk-on attrition.

Nobody gives a **** about 8 walk-ons with 1-year scholarships that DO NOT and will not impact our 2021 numbers.

I am not even counting walk-ons. People need to stop obsessing about walk-ons (not saying you, just people in general).

Again, I am not saying that it WON'T happen, just that this is an unusual and unprecedented year. There is extra focus on taking care of players and not being so cutthroat about these issues.

I think we can get to 6 for attrition, it will be harder THIS YEAR to get to 11.

Save all the "layup" and "been around the block" confidence FOR NOW. Let this very non-normal year play out. Everything could fall into place, I hope it does. But there's no need for over-confidence at this early stage. Even kids who have never been big for us in the past might have to play important roles this year if we have a mid-season Covid outbreak.
Nah, I'm good. LAYUP. BEEN AROUND THE BLOCK. :)

And its not "for now" or about "what could fall into place." Manny has plenty of non-dirty tools at his disposal.

Again, hold me to it. For all the reasons mentioned. And be assured, that quite a few walk-ons that are awarded scholarships get them because we are under the 85 with no way to add a recruited player. So its "free" for the program. It's usually made very clear that we have space to give them a ride for a year, but nothing is guaranteed after that, as it will depend on numbers. So no one is having the rug pulled out from under them.

We are not turning down Chase Smith because Robert Parrott is on scholarship. Etc. Not happening.

It’s not 8 it’s 5. I’m not going to argue with you. I know you go on multi paragraph tangents and I’m not interested. We can take 25. Have a good evening buddy.

Oh good lord, two guys pretending to have "inside info" on the roster, who want to talk on DMs, who provide zero proof (and it's not exactly sensitive info).

I've listed all the 75 recruited scholarship players. Multiple times.

But some guys want to talk about Manny's dirty tool.

Whatever.

Funniest thing is that this dippy "aleahy" character actually makes his argument worse. He claims we only have 5 walk-ons out of 83, which leaves 78 recruited scholarship players. And there are only 8 seniors who are definitely leaving after 2020. So that's 70 potential returnees, and we are trying to sign 25 ICs to get to 85. Meaning we need 10 guys worth of attrition (9 after Rousseau leaving).

It’s not a big secret but your numbers are a little bit off and I don’t want to start listing off guys who won’t be brought back in 21. We were at 83 with Rousseau now 82.

Exactly the number I have on my scholly chart on my other computer.

Scholarship charts and walk-ons don't matter. Roster matters. I provided the roster above, which comes from UM, not your top secret computer. You have always been free to supplement the official UM roster, but you have yet to do so. Any time you want to add or subtract names to the list I posted above, based on your proprietary information, go ahead, the roster isn't protected by HIPAA or the Patriot Act.

We have 8 seniors who will leave the team (assuming Donaldson returns), and Rousseau has now left the team. That's 9.

Keep focusing on walk-ons, who don't matter for 2021.

If you want to claim that there are more than 75 recruited scholarship players, feel free to do so. That doesn't increase the number of seniors. So if you think we need EVEN HIGHER attrition numbers, I'm not sure how that helps your argument that it will be easy to get all the 2021 kids enrolled.

Easy way to solve this argument. TOC listed 75 scholarship players (recruited guys, not walk-ons) If there are other members of the team who aren't on his list, just list them. I don't know who's right or wrong here but it's really easy to figure it out.

I was including the 8 FWO's on scholly, so that's the difference in numbers. I was counting the TOTAL number of kids on schollys, which since greg left is 82. No matter who has one, they still need to be freed up to make room. So 8 seniors + 8 FWO = 16. Still need to free up 9 to have room for 25. It's just two ways of looking at the same problem.

Right. So I'm right.

The point I was making is that (BESIDES YOU) nobody freaking knew how many walk-ons had scholarships. So the EASY solution is to just ignore them, since they don't matter as ICs (they aren't ICs) and the won't matter as COUNTERS after this year (since they are 1-year awards).

Midlo, you've been one of the most consistent with the numbers, but some of these others (aleahy) won't "show their math". I'm only giving you some sarcastic crap because of your "on my computer" comment, but you know I like you. I gave you a hard time to see if some of these other turtles will come out of their shells.

I have been, and will always be, a person that is happy to revise my numbers if someone gives me better info. For instance, I initially thought we had 9 seniors leaving after this year (per the official UM roster), and then someone pointed out to me that Donaldson was redshirting and COULD come back in 2021.

So rather than add AND subtract the walk-ons, I just didn't even include them.

75 RECRUITED scholarship players, minus 8 seniors, minus Rousseau gives us AS MANY AS 66 returning players. 19 guaranteed spots for freshmen, then we need to have 6 spots of attrition.

Is the only differential that we have...the fact that we CURRENTLY have 2 or 3 open spots (i.e., you did 8 seniors plus 8 walkons for 16 spots, but we already have 3 extra slots due to not being at 85, as well as Rousseau).

This is why I ignore walk-ons. I guarantee you that if we start the season at 83 (or 82), a couple more walk-ons will get ships.

Just ignore the walk-ons. It makes life (and math) easier.

And for the record, I am fairly certain that all opt-outs will COUNT as scholarships (as well as will GET their scholarships) for this year. They are NOT medical retirements.

This seems like a standby to standby bullet point. All its going to take is one school to ask why they are getting penalized for a player opting out before this changes.

You believe what you want to believe. "Penalized". A player can leave for any reason, doesn't mean you get a scholarship back.
