Crawford is gone; Granted release per mother

Antonio Crawford is our best CB though ... him and Elder
As much as Crawford has gotten called for PI/Holding, I can't agree. I would say that you could argue that he has the highest ceiling, though. He's got something that Burns doesn't--that tough mentality and swagger that you need to be a shutdown CB. Burns is more talented physically, but I don't know that he's aggressive enough (yet).

Elder is developing like I hoped Crawford would have. He's becoming a **** nice player who can make things happen when the ball goes in the air.

Crawford did have quite a few penalties, but he also played extremely agressive which I really enjoyed. Agree with your comments about Elder... he's very agressive too. I'm sad to see Crawford leave b/c I consider him a good contributor.

Elder has made a ton of plays with the ball in the air. He must have 5 times more picks than Crawford right?

http://miamiherald.typepad.com/umia...nce-henley-will-replace-antonio-crawford.html

...Although UM has yet to officially announce his signing, it's expected Henley will take the spot of senior cornerback Antonio Crawford, whose mother told Canesport Friday her son had been granted his release. UM's sports information department said Friday at 3:30 p.m. it had no official news regarding Henley or Crawford as of yet...

As for Crawford, he ends his career with 58 career tackles and two starts. He was in the rotation at cornerback and played a lot, but apparently unhappy with his role.
"I wanted him to stay, told him to stay, but it's his decision," Crawford's mother Shawanda Rogers told Canesport. "He said he wants to play somewhere else, wants to be a starter, doesn't want to be second [string]. He just feels that he's going to try to play somewhere else."

I like you as a poster, but this bit of hyperbole is uncalled for. I didn't call Elder the next Deion Sanders or anything of the sort, or say that Elder was 5x as productive as Crawford or foolishness like that. Neither guy had a pick last season, so it's not like they're both world-beaters.

As far as stats, Crawford had 34 tackles and 4 PBU's, and Crawford had 19 tackles and 5 PBU's. And Elder is a full class younger than Crawford. At this point, I'd say Elder's a better talent at this stage of the game.

Also--Elder had 2 picks in practice yesterday, both on our hyped up "next Ken Dorsey" Kaaya. And yes--I realize that qualifies him for "Greentree AA" status, but it's worth noting. Elder also made some good plays in coverage as he got more burn down the stretch last year, and very few (if any) PI/Holding calls that Crawford got nailed on 90% of the time when he was in on a play.

Newsflash: Just to mention one school; South Carolina has lost TEN players since December. LOL at the finger pointing. Twitter should be banned. People continue to make themselves look like idiots.

Blame the kid or not, nothing changes the fact Golden loses more players than any coach I have ever seen. First year or two it can be excused, but he continues to have a horrific attrition rate that cannot be sustained. If he was recruiting numerous studs at each position, okay, but he claims to be recruiting "high character" guys.

Given Al's history of deadly attrition, it is hard to blame any kid at this point. Truth be know, Donna and Al have disgusted me so much that if I could get all my tuition and donations back, I would consider giving back my degree and never watching another game. If we get another Donna for the next president, I will probably just give up college sports completely. As it is, I am going on another cruise next month with more money for the casino that normally would have gone to THE U. The odds on the slots are better than Al's chance of stopping a run up the gut.
