Craig Kuligowski

Problem with hiring Kuligowski as DC might be that you weaken his main known strength--coaching the DLine. How much time as a first time DC would he have to dedicate to his main craft?

I think the only way you can justify bringing him in as a DC is as co-DC with an experienced DC who will call the games. It would be asking too much of him to completely overhaul our DL and call a defense for the first time in his life.

Just give him his pick of defensive line coaches. I'd certainly trust whoever he co-signed.

I know one thing for absolutely certain: Richt wouldn't have taken this job without at least as large of an assistant budget as he had at UGA.

He had some squabbles with UGA over budget for assistant coaches and even paid them extra out of his own pocket. With that said, money will not be an impediment to hiring a great DC. If we make a poor hire it won't be because of money.

After watching that feeble pass rush today I hope Richt knows he's gotta hire some dogs to teach these guys how to disrupt offenses.

Part of the negotiations was Richt wanting a million dollars more than Al's budget.

You don't even know what scheme he wants to run lol

Or if he can be a successful DC.

anyone who has been elite in their coordinator position for so long at an average school and has been around defense for 25 years I think would know how to run a defense.

Nothing in his history as DL coach would lead me to believe that he would fail as a DC.

Besides who are the other options?

people wanted Don Brown who wasn’t even a candidate really they just thought he was good, and people wanted to Aranda who we haven’t heard anything about him and miami even contacting each other

there is at least rumors going around about Kuligowski.

Too much unnecessary risk letting him call plays for the first time.

There are a bunch of options. Try googling. Don Brown was one of them.

You can't be scared to take chances. Jimbo wasn't scared to hire pruitt and he won a championship. Richt is going to run the offense so if the dc doesn't work out, you fire his *** and get another one.

I'm cool not taking any chances for about the next decade to even out all the ****ty results we've had after taking chances the previous decade. Hiring Richt was as much as a proven commodity as you could get. I'm fine attempting to replicate that with the DC. Go ahead and take chances with position coaches. The rationale that "we'll just fire the guy" if the D sucks doesn't fly for too many reasons to even list.

I'm thinking part of the negotiations was him wanting at least as much as he had at UGA. I don't know what Folden's budget was, but it was likely more than a million less than what Richt had at UGA. I think both of his coordinators at UGA were right at about $1M. Ours are about $600K. There's $800K right there. I think the rest of his staff probably made more than $200k total more than Al's Amateurs did this year.

So this works 100% of the time?

Why take risk when you have the funds to get a top name? Why take unnecessary risk?

Miami would have the best dline coach in all of college football...... That would be a tremendous hire....

Our DLine killed us today with that pattycake **** and total inability to rush the passer. All we do is bull rush on every fcking pass play. A great DL coach will make ALL the difference in the world for this team.

******* DL is slow as **** to get to the QB. Poor Thomas out there looking like a DT

Not good enough to be DC at Missouri, but is for Miami...? That possible?

That's the part that would probably stop me from making him anything other than a co-DC paired with a veteran DC. He worked with Pinkel forever, and Pinkel had several chances to promote him to DC. He likely saw something he didn't think would translate to being a DC.

Has there ever been a successful team with co-DCs and co-OCs?

UF with Shannon and Collins. Tcu has co oc, Clemson does right now for oc too

Do you have any examples for both sides of the ball? Bc that's what he's talking about..

Might need to, he has certainly underwhelmed so far at Miami. Hope he gets it together with better coaching

Not only do they look slow, but when all you do is engage the OL and attempt to push them back on every pass play you're going to suck. It's the worst coached, worst schemed DL I've seen in forever. It's just an abortion out there because, make no mistake, there is plenty of talent on that DL. It's just being grossly abused.

Falk threw it 50 times, and he had an hour to make his reads every time he dropped back. This dude took a beating this year when they played good teams. And we rarely touched him.

Chad looking like 2014 Chickillo out there...A dam shame mane

fair enough, i’ll reword it to “successful”, however I believe we see the ACC differently, particularly the Coastal. imo the worst power five conference in college football with no outstanding offenses (outside of clemson who we don’t play for another 4 years I believe

Virginia: New Offensive HC
VTech: New Offensive HC
UNC: Good Offense
FSU: Above Average offense
Pitt: Bad Offense with a Defensive HC
Duke: Average offense, about same as the SEC teams minus a good RB
Georgia Tech: Meh

I did not post the above.
I think it was in response to my post.
LOL.

A front 4 of AQM, Moten, Willis, and Thomas is talented. Would figure he could get those guys to ball. Still need to fix the depth particularly at DT.

That's what separates SEC schools from other schools. They have nasty lineman and they have DEPTH. You need at least 7 good defensive lineman (rotation) to be great.

We will start winning big once we control the line of scrimmage again.
