He does, but he also did say its the D Cord's decision, think if we get him though, it all but guarantees a 4-3 for sure

The ACC is changing and adding better coaches.
I would settle for, and expect, winning our division and playing for conference ****les.
But that is not the same as "dominating".
Save the hyperbole for a few years from now.

people wanted Don Brown who wasn’t even a candidate really they just thought he was good, and people wanted to Aranda who we haven’t heard anything about him and miami even contacting each other

Rumors and if they could come is one thing.
I was more replying to the "dominate the ACC" remark.
No way we can expect a first year DC to dominate a conference he has never been in.

Did some wikipedia searching...
He been at Missouri since 2001 I believe...
2001-2008 Matt Eferblus, who is now LB coach for the Cowboys, ran a 4-3 defense
2009-2014 Dave Steckel, who is now a HC for Missouri State, ran a 4-3 defense
2015-Present Barry Odom, who is now the HC at Missouri, usually runs 3-4 but ran a 4-3 defense (most likely multiple front).

Assumptions based off previous DC's:
1. He will run a 4-3 defense.
2. Dave Steckel liked to blitz alot, he probably will too.
3. Dave Steckel elected to run the 4-2-5 over 3-3-5 against spread teams, he probably will too.
4. Someone asked why he was never promoted to DC...well...he only had a chance to get promoted twice, and you look at the people Pinkel selected instead, not really scrubs...both are now HC's...

i’m confused on which point you’re arguing?

are you saying you don’t want kuligowski or that ACC is better than another power 5 conference?

ACC may move up in a year or two after some of these new coaches improve the teams but right now it is worse than the big 12, sec, big 10, and Pac 12 no question

I think if you bring in CK you make him associate HC of the Defense, give him a huge raise, and tell him he is next in line to be DC if whoever we hire leaves for greener pastures.

Hire Harlan Barnett from MSU, who has worked under Saban and Dantonio his whole career, runs the exact scheme we all know and love, and has experience calling plays on the big stage. I have no doubt Barnett would be incredible here.

They used a 4-3 / 3-4 hybrid. Shane Ray and Aldon Smith both played the "elephant" position where they lined up as DE or Rush OLB.

No, you were right...ACC Coastal offenses are not on the level of Big 12 / Pac 12 / Big 10. SEC offenses suck so I won't say that. Both UVA and VT are expected to have total turnarounds in offensive power. While FSU/UNC already has above average offenses. That puts us at playing at least 4 teams every year with offenses better than the one Kool is used to seeing.
Again, I'm not saying I don't want Kool...But yes, I AM saying that the ACC is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I don't understand how ACC schools beat each other and we're bad but SEC schools beat each other and they are considered "competitive. All of the SEC West got smashed last bowl season and this year the whole conference was down. Big 10 is the only conference that actually stands out this year. Everyone else is on the same level with 2-3 good teams and average teams to fill out the conference and 1-2 bottom feeders. Even the Big 10 has 4 ****** teams.

Too much unnecessary risk letting him call plays for the first time.

Don't believe you have to hire someone who was a DC before...especially if the guy you are hiring is an elite coach at his position. Kuligowski is an elite DL coach!! If you have a dominating DL it makes play calling alot easier

He cannot run his household how in the **** could he run a millionaire dollar football program

IMO, the only hope for getting Barnett would be if Tressell is the one calling the D. If that's the case, giving Barnett a raise and the ability to call the D might work.

Barnett calls the plays from upstairs and Lil Tressel runs their sideline- whatever that means. Supposedly both are happy with Dantonio's delegation of powers though. I know MSU recently allocated heavy raises for their staff so it'd be TBD if we could even entice Barnett with $ and total control.

I would be happy with either...both has their downside IMO...But to Barnett's appeal, you would have to think that a secondary coach who is already a co-dc and (possibly) calling plays would transition to a full time DC easier than a DL coach. I also think that Mich. State defense would fit us alot more than the ones usually ran at Missouri. Regardless, main thing to consider is the trenches. If Craig is going to have our D-Line balling, everything else becomes that much more easier

I know one thing for absolutely certain: Richt wouldn't have taken this job without at least as large of an assistant budget as he had at UGA.

He had some squabbles with UGA over budget for assistant coaches and even paid them extra out of his own pocket. With that said, money will not be an impediment to hiring a great DC. If we make a poor hire it won't be because of money.

After watching that feeble pass rush today I hope Richt knows he's gotta hire some dogs to teach these guys how to disrupt offenses.

Problem with hiring Kuligowski as DC might be that you weaken his main known strength--coaching the DLine. How much time as a first time DC would he have to dedicate to his main craft?

I think the only way you can justify bringing him in as a DC is as co-DC with an experienced DC who will call the games. It would be asking too much of him to completely overhaul our DL and call a defense for the first time in his life.

You can't be scared to take chances. Jimbo wasn't scared to hire pruitt and he won a championship. Richt is going to run the offense so if the dc doesn't work out, you fire his *** and get another one.
