Craig Kuligowski

I wonder if Richt is friendly enough with Pinkel to get an honest opinion from him as to why he never promoted Kuligowski to DC.

Not good enough to be DC at Missouri, but is for Miami...? That possible?

That's the part that would probably stop me from making him anything other than a co-DC paired with a veteran DC. He worked with Pinkel forever, and Pinkel had several chances to promote him to DC. He likely saw something he didn't think would translate to being a DC.

Has there ever been a successful team with co-DCs and co-OCs?

UF with Shannon and Collins. Tcu has co oc, Clemson does right now for oc too

Do you have any examples for both sides of the ball? Bc that's what he's talking about..

I could live with Kuligowski and Raymond as Co-DCs

What are their current salaries? I saw of Wikipedia (not reliable) that Raymond makes $850,000 as a DB coach... I know we've got big bucks to shell out but **** that's a lot of bread regardless of who he's coached. Can we afford both?
If LSU is paying a DB coach that much scratch they must have the biggest assistant payroll in college football. I'm sure there are plenty of NFL DB coaches not making $850K per. Throw in Orgeron who is probably making close to a mill to coach the DL and Cameron who is stealing $1.5 to run a horrid offense. Funny thing is the state of Louisiana was broke.

Pay Corey Raymond

Per this site he is only making 325000 with up to 70000 in bonuses
Might be able to entice Raymond with a higher base salary by convincing him that LSU has peaked under Miles and he might not see some of those performance bonuses. Give him and Kuligowski Co-DC titles and you have DC, DB coach, and DL coach positions locked up. Both are elite teachers with Raymond an elite recruiter and Kuligowski a plus recruiter at the worst.

If we don't go with an established DC I'd be happy with that situation. Or we are all blown out of the water by richt and get an elite established DC and those two guys as position coaches, but I'm not holding my breath.

I think that's a best case scenario. Jeremy Pruitt made $1.3mil last year. Make it 1.5mil and give Kool 800k and Raymond 700k and lets go. We'll one of the most dangerous staffs out there.

Didn't USC have co-OC with Kiffin and Sarkesian?

I agree with numbers. Don't mind the co-coordinator roles on offense especially since Richt is in charge. But, on the defensive side, pick one savage and let's roll!

Yep.
Good example.

Interesting. How's he as a recruiter? Obviously has a proven track record of development. Would love to see what he could do with Miami caliber talent at DL.

He can obviously turn water to wine because you know he wasn't getting a pipeline of 4&5* d-linemen at Mizzou. If he was turing their 3* linemen into draft choices then I'm confident he can recruit 4* talent here. If he could do it with the talent he was getting at Mizzou, my theory is that he'd do better with better talent.

I have no doubt Chad, AQM, and others would like look different players under him, or any top notch DL coach for that matter.

While we're at it lets get Shannon back and just make the whole defensive threesome Co-DC's and pay them 700k each.

Co-DC Corey Raymond (DB's)
Co-DC Craig Kool (DE)
Co-DC Randy Shannon (LB)
DT Kareem Brown

What do you think of Lorenzo Ward Co DC, Craig Kuligowski DL/Co DC, Hurlie Brown and one more as the new defensive coaching staff.

A front 4 of AQM, Moten, Willis, and Thomas is talented. Would figure he could get those guys to ball. Still need to fix the depth particularly at DT. DE was recruited much better than DT over the last few years.

you nuts...... kendrick norton would start over moten...... moten is good dont get me wrong but ken norton could be a beast upfront with willis

Kuligowski is my new favorite for DC. Guy is an amazing coach and I am confident he can dominate the ACC offenses with no issue

Mizz does run an attacking 4-3 Defense, so all he knows is coaching 4-3. Didn't Coach Richt say he wanted an attacking 4-3 Defense

You don't even know what scheme he wants to run lol

Or if he can be a successful DC.

anyone who has been elite in their coordinator position for so long at an average school and has been around defense for 25 years I think would know how to run a defense.

Nothing in his history as DL coach would lead me to believe that he would fail as a DC.

Besides who are the other options?

people wanted Don Brown who wasn’t even a candidate really they just thought he was good, and people wanted to Aranda who we haven’t heard anything about him and miami even contacting each other

there is at least rumors going around about Kuligowski.

Rumors and if they could come is one thing.
I was more replying to the "dominate the ACC" remark.
No way we can expect a first year DC to dominate a conference he has never been in.

fair enough, i’ll reword it to “successful”, however I believe we see the ACC differently, particularly the Coastal. imo the worst power five conference in college football with no outstanding offenses (outside of clemson who we don’t play for another 4 years I believe
