I know we haven’t. Curious to know if we landed all of our top targets the last few years is it possible. I think it’s a least a playoff squad.

We don’t have enough homegrown DTs and OL to as you can see above. But am I wrong in thinking we could make the playoffs with Quintin Flowers at QB last season?

DT and OL are not plentiful enough. Nor are they good enough just from the names listed. We do have a lot
Of edge rushing talent tho

Of course. We would win it every year.

But you’d need to get everybody and hit on the sleepers, which is why it’s only hypothetical.

This. Just not enough good big uglies.

It's funny how we get poached by OSU but we can't pluck any linemen from their backyard. It's not like NSD is on the coldest day of the year, or anything...

South Florida does not produce enough talent depth in the trenches. Bama's national teams, Ohio State's national teams would still be better, especially in those areas, and there are only three quarterbacks on that list better than the worst they would run out. Those schools would get good south Florida kids also, even if it is the second tier to augment their pick of the rest of the country.

Also, the spread in years you are presenting in those categories makes those lists deceptively longer than the talent you would choose from in any 3 year cycle.

The "best team of all time" had less starters from south Florida than it did from outside the area, don't forget about that.

The game is won down low so no, not with just south Florida talent alone, we'd need some big guys upfront and Florida doesn't produce those at avery high rate, depending on the QB we might could do it

Those would be the weak positions on what is basically an All-Star team. But you would have enough.

At tackle, you'd have Yodney Cajuste (top NFL prospect out of WVU) and Reggie Bain (All-Conference and potential pro) as excellent bookends. At guard, you have Navaughn Donaldson (who is a star inside) and Frederick Johnson (senior starting RG for Florida). I'd put Chris Gaynor (starter at TCU) or his brother Corey Gaynor at center.

This is just off the top of my head. There are other guys who start at FBS level and can be serviceable backups.

At defensive tackle, you'd have Slaton (starting for UF and mammoth) and Lamonte McDougle (freshman AA) as starters. Guys like Khairi Clark, Jon Ford and Nesta Silvera give you talented depth.

The QB position has been loaded with stars for the past five years. Same with RB, WR, DE, LB, S and CB. Those would be the best units in the country every season.

The skill positions would be outrageous. Just look at what our secondary would look like his year and next if a few dudes would’ve stayed.
But agreed on the need for trench bullys

You could get about 75% of your roster from that list. Then add in the out of state/not south Florida kids like Brevin, Mallory, Lingard, Willis, etc. to make it elite. I think CMR and staff has done a great job making south Florida a priority but we have obviously missed on some top end talent and some sleepers.

Bernie Kosar, Steve Walsh, Gino Torretta, and Ken Dorsey say "no".

Craig Erickson says "yes".
