I don’t agree with that assessment. His testing numbers were good to very good, just not off the charts. (His 10 yard split was off the charts.) His height, arm length and hand size were also off the charts. You can’t teach that.
He fell because when you pick apart his film, he’s got a lot of areas to improve on and a lot of his sacks weren’t what they’re looking to project (came inside, or were ‘coverage’ sacks). Remember, he only plated as a frosh, so there is both room for improvement and a dearth of date to judge from.
Ultimately, he got drafted on physical potential. If he had played in ‘20 and shown improvementin what they’re looking for, he’d have gone higher. But if he played in ‘20 didn’t show improvement, he probably drops on further evidence of lack of improvement.
