One pairing that’s probably even more enticing than FSU-Miami….

ND-Miami.

The timing for adding us both as permanent rivals could not be any better.

Only issue is that "The SEC" isn'y making these decisions alone. Media partners care primarily about $$$$ and building the strongest commercial revenue generating property. ESPN could definitely use $$$ to get whatever they want as far as "conference makeup" is concerned. Traditional SEC mindset be damned.

Not disagreeing at all.

But that is ND's difficult decision to make.

If the SEC and Big 10 expand, I would not be shocked to see 10-game conference schedules.

Which means ND would have to live (largely) on ACC and Big 12 and NuPac 12 games.

IN THAT SCENARIO, Notre Dame might (wisely) choose to join the Big 10.

All parties are in alignment about UNC to the SEC. UVa may not be "quite" as desirable to ESPN/ABC, but it's still going to happen.

And the SEC is clearly trying to maintain a regional footprint. The SEC will take UNC and UVa, and maybe even NC State and VaTech. Or maybe Clemson and/or GaTech and/or F$U. But they are highly unlikely to invite Miami.

The SEC believes in the English Premier League model, dominate a relatively small and poor market.

The SEC map covers the fastest growing region of the U.S.- both in population and finance. I would say they are doing it right- and I’m sure they have zero interest in moving “out west”.

Recall seeing some viewership stats - Nielsen or other. The % of residents in SEC country that watch college football was dramatically higher (66% of residents) than any other part of the country. The NE market was like 10% I’d residents and Midwest was around 20-25%.
