MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread: Stories, Tales, Lies, and Exaggerations

I thought ACC locked in their great deal for longest time compared to everyone else who woill resign twice before we resign in mid 2030s
The only thing the ACC did was eliminate the controversy ... before the lawsuit settlement there was simply speculation that "getting out of the ACC will cost the school leaving $500-700 Million". One of the settlement details was the ACC providing a very clear exit fee starting at $168M per year, dropping by $30M per year thereafter until reaching a floor exit cost of $75M in 2030. EXCEPT if 6 schools decided to leave together to a single sport (football) conference ... then they could leave ANY TIME at an exit fee of $75M per school. Don't forget ESPN also has the right to renegotiate the annual media payout if 2 or more schools leave ... and that could also trigger changes to the exit fees. That settlement included details that were not so much FSY / Clemson "winning" but ESPN setting up the ACC to be pilfered with the lowest economic impact to schools wanting to join the P2 possible. "Realignment planning".

Josh Pate is reporting that Miami will announce its deal to leave the ACC before the season starts. The date of departure may vary depending on how other teams respond…..

Where at? That’s a bold *** claim, the kind I could see him hearing when he’s here but being sworn to a blood oath type of deal.

I am far from a legal expert so forgive me if this is a dumb question or if this has already been covered in this thread and I am just too ignorant in these matters to understand if it was, but if we were to come into an agreement to join the BIG10 now, with the understanding that that we would not actually be physically leaving the ACC until 2-3 years in the future, wouldn’t that preclude this potential law from locking us in place since the agreement was signed before the Save Act actually became law?

Yes.
