MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread(Its still personal)

Pretty ignorant post. They have been outperforming expectations for years. Compared to the C@nes underperforming for two decades.
Out performing expectations means little if you have no expectations.

If wake is so great than they should want the ACC dissolved and make their way into one of the conferences paying it’s teams more too

Lol. No one is going to think anything about those schools, because no one cares about them football wise. They're just along for the ride.
His point was they have an equal vote as other teams in the league and at some point getting a few more million a year (when you are already swimming in money compared to others) might not be worth it to you for the extra travel you would need to do and the tougher schedule. It's the same reason the SEC didn't go to a 9 game conference schedule yet; the 'bottom' teams wanted to be able to keep a easier game on their schedule and those bottom teams each have the same voting power as the top teams.

Now obviously the Big10 is adding the teams, so it didnt play out that way but it is a legitimate consideration for those teams.

Agreed.

I think F$U's payday loan is evidence that they are preparing to buy their way out, without using sovereign immunity. And Miami couldn't possibly make the argument either.
Correct. 100% irrelevant for us, but when it comes to the legal side, he is one to listen to.

because some teams value ADDS money to the contract instantly. yes today. Miami, FSU, Clemson and Notre Dame all do. UNC might. For the Big 10

For the SEC it is different- UNC and UVA might be the most additive to revenue and strategy.

What if I told you that on paper Stanford last year had a media rights value estimate of $45M and Oregon was only $30.....
I get it but ... think you overrate Miami's attractiveness.

Btw, this guy knows his stuff from a legal perspective. He is one of the leading sports attorneys in the country and teaches at Tulane Law. In a sea of blustering and nonsense, this guy can be listened to.
So you’re saying the guys here who report that ‘the board shows they puzzys’ shouldn’t be as trusted?

Because we bring more to the table in regard to viewership.
After 20 years of putting a meh product on the field I'm not so sure. A whole generation of college football TV viewers has grown up watching the Canes promise a return to glory, but never deliver.

The numbers don't lie though. We average about 3.8 million per game. Just under the 4.0 million target the BIG media partners desire. They know we are spending money and if we start winning we should get over that hurdle.

And if you think those schools are equivalent to Miami and F$U and Clemson and ND and UNC...well, just believe what you want to believe.
Doesn't matter what I believe. The B1G I'm sure - if we're lucky enough to have them come calling - can point to two consecutive decades of irrelevance when they negotiate. We have no one to blame for that but ourselves.

Um, IBM is close to their 52 week high, has a 133 billion market cap, and has been a member of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since 1979, and was first a member from 1932 - 1939.
True the red hat really helped them lately. But I still don’t like their financials. They fudge their numbers.

I think some of you underestimate Pitt. GT is in an area where there are so many other sports teams they get almost no attention. In Pittsburgh, they have the Steelers and that’s pretty much it. The Pirates haven’t been **** since the 80s. And on top of those things, Pitt was just in an ACC championship and has been putting players in the league every year. GT is not better than Pitt

Agree, nobody's checking for GT, GT's usually one of those boring snooze fest games at noon on ESPN 8.

And too much is made of media markets, just because a city's heavily populated doesn't mean that everybody watches CFB, like Miami for example

Its a much better market and new state, that the BIG10 is not already in. If you're talking on field results, I don't disagree. Pitt would be like one of only 2 or 3 schools that aren't in the P2 that actually has won a Football National Championship. Colorado has too, and theres probably another... GTech has one too and more recent

Candidly, I was thinking more of Darren Heitner, but sure. Or maybe the poster that yells about anti-trust and stolen cars and then tells people who are attorneys to post their firm bios. But yours too.
