Probably something to do with their med school? I've always heard its the best med school in Florida, and looks like its the 23rd hardest to get into in the country, right behind UCSF and USC, to put things in perspective.

It’s a big school in a major metropolitan area and they’re building an on campus stadium right now.

Definitely, but I don't think location is a factor for AAU admission, and athletics definitely isn't. Seems that they mainly look at $s spent on research, quality of research, academic prestige, etc. Having a strong medical school seems to be a big plus
