Completely OT - I can’t stop watching this

Real surfers learn to surf in Florida as it's much tougher technique-wise to surf the smaller waves.

Kelly Slater told me that over some chicken zingers and Miller Lite at the Cocoa Beach Ale House.

That's not Rodrigo Koxa. That's a german Surfer and don't think that's in Portugal.

Although Koxa did surf the biggest wave ever last year. Don't know why that video is being spread as such with that false information everywhere.

Yeah, definitely doesn’t look like Portuguese water. I can’t tell from that shot, is he west German or from former east Germany? Just kidding.

It absolutely is Nazare Portugal.

Just a little research will tell you that it’s 100% legit. The guy that tweeted that just got the name of the surfer wrong.

Here’s another picture, which you can see is the same as that area.

Here is a link from six-year-old article from NPR, with a video. You don’t get any more trustworthy than NPR as far as something like this.

https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo...ugals-monster-the-mechanics-of-a-massive-wave

Google it and scan through the first 10 or 20 articles. Even just look at the pictures. You’ll see. I found it hard to believe at first myself.

Like I said, the name of the surfer is 100% incorrect. But that’s a real video and it really is in Portugal.

The natural reaction to these videos is always how big someone's balls have to be to do something like this - which is true - but the skill involved is world class. It really is on Lebron or Brady level. Just not as recognized sport wise.

I couldn’t agree more. It takes world-class athleticism and balance to survive that. Think how he worked his way up to waves that big. Years of skill building from progressively smaller to larger waves. In addition he had to have great natural ability. That combination makes somebody like that as unique as LeBron James. There’s probably only, I don’t know, maybe 50 guys in the world that would even attempt that

Thats a great idea for travel pics on a board. I will definitely post pics though I'm not going until summer. I know the dog thing is tough. Philippines is supposed to have beautiful beaches and super affordable though there are some areas I understand that have issues with radicals but that shouldnt be a worry in most places you would go.

Yup the furthest southern Island of Mindanao has some Muslim problems they just blew up a Catholic church the other day, most stay away from that one. I'm going with my wife so I won't be going there. Been watching some Documentaries and Youtube on the Islands some area's are real poor. I'm getting to the age where I really want to give back but I'm certainly not rich probably have enough for my lifespan but my wife is ten years younger so I have to conserve, live way below our means right now.

I've been very resourceful in my lifetime I'm going to figure it out how to help a few. Many of the young girls are abused so I won't be going over for just a vacation, but you're right it's pretty cheap there to stay. Oct of 2020 is when we want to leave, the weather is better in our winters. This will give us time to prepare, I can't imagine my old guy will be with us by then.
