This is it! Exactly, they are not going to drop Bama out of the playoffs, considering they are playing for the conference championship.

The committee really showed its hand this week. All those SEC people in the room are fighting hard to get five teams in, when in actuality, the SEC was not as dominant this year as in years past.

There is also a scenario where Alabama gets smoked BYU get smoked and they potentially move Miami to nine and leave Notre Dame at 10. I find that highly unlikely due to it being a championship game but let’s say the quarterback gets hurt or Alabama gets beat 40 to 3 it could happen!

So to me, this is a total hedge, but they fired a warning shot, saying Notre Dame you are definitely at risk!

I’m actually happy with the results today where they are squeezing Notre Dame to Miami!!!!

BYU loses and is out.

Bama loses and the committee drops them a spot BEHIND Notre Dame

and still in front of Miami taking the final spot for the SEC

did you think about this likely scenario?

JD Pickell talked about it yesterday. Committee put us 18 after the SMU loss since it figured we were just going to keep dropping from there. Cristobal’s November meltdowns were as predictable as the sun rising. They didn’t expect Miami to win out. They avoided flipping Miami and ND for weeks hoping we would go away. Now the committee’s nuts are in a vice- they know they can’t ignore H2H so they may be laying the groundwork for flipping UM and ND in the final rankings. They haven’t done it yet as they need to see how the conference championships play out. If BYU wins they never have to address H2H since we both get bumped.

This is why its so annoying. The committee is going by what they think they know (when they're clueless) assuming ND is just some better team now than we are.

We couldn't have beaten anyone a year ago if we snuck in. Couldn't stop a nose bleed. But we could actually make a run this year. So frustrating.

Who would’ve thought the CFP committee’s “rankings” would be a farce. I don’t expect them to do the right thing and flip us, but in the unlikely situation dominos fall are way and they do…it’ll make them look really bad.
 
I know some people are against it but I'd be behind giving conferences auto bids. Give the SEC 4 spots, B10 gets 3-4, ACC and B12 get 2 each. ***** getting G5 teams in just to be slaughtered. Or if you want to give the B10 3 and leave one spot for an at large or next highest team, but 9/10 years it'll just give ND an automatic ticket into the playoffs with how weak their schedule is year in and year out. I know people hate the idea of giving conferences locked down spots but **** look at the SEC, if Texas hadn't of played OSU to start the year the SEC would be about to get 6 teams in. This would actually reduce the amount of SEC teams getting in most years.

you could be right, but taking Bama's last 3 games then.... Loss, Barely beat 5-7 team by 7, and then another loss... they should drop below us at that point... you know... "looking at the most recent trend of the team"

So I watched Chris Canty this a.m. pump up ND. He down played the H2H as, it was the first game and we only won by 3. Then downplayed ND losses and cited their 10 in a row win streak. Also citing their points scored and against. Failed to note that we had better numbers over the season. This is the problem with some media spewing numbers and bias with no context. It was all a fluff BS rant. Besides he’s a Virginia alumn, and by that nature hates us. Back at ya mfer, Va. S**ks

In TrumpyCane's opinion they couldn't justify flipping us and ND because there were too many teams in front of us to jump

Now they flipped Bama and ND for stupid reasons to make a case of us being closer if BYU loses and then can justify us flipping with ND on Sunday
