Comment from lsu 247 reporter on Raymond

can't see lsu getting outbid for a top level coach

maybe it will take richt offering raymond a true, legitimate co-DC position with a stud dc with a subsequent path to advance to dc

We stole a DB coach from LSU and Nick Saban several years ago--Tim Walton. Miles is in a death spiral. Raymond would be wise to get a raise and title bump from UM (even if the title bump doesn't really change the fact that he'd mainly be the DB coach) and dismount that sinking ship.

I notice Raymond was at Utah State. Is there any overlap with Coach Aranda while he was at Utah State?

Great question^^^^^
I checked and it appears that they did not coach there together as Raymond left in 2010 and Aranda coached there in 2012.

I was told he wanted a 90-100k raise from lsu, and he's been contact with UM. I actually posted that in one of his threads here last week.

I can't imagine any of the LSU coaches have any leverage to negotiate raises. I think the LSU admin probably hopes Miles has an epic failure of a season next year, to justify their attempt to fire him this year. And if Miles lost some coaches, that would probably help their cause.

Agree. Can't imagine giving a guy a raise when you wanted to can his immediate boss.

It's funny...because this is the exact same thing we were saying about Coach Kool...that he could easily take a NFL job, but would be easier to convince with the Co-DC title. Also similar in that both Coach Kool and Raymond has strong rumors out that they wanted to get a crack at DC.

I saw Utah State and wondered the same thing. However if any "Co" title is going to be given out by Richt then Aranda will not be coming here. He is a legit DC and i don't think he would take the "co" title even if it was his play calling. Give Raymond 600K or whatever you gave Thomas Brown and call it a day. Make LSU at least overspend

but aranda and Thomas Brown did coach together for a year at Wiscy, right?

I was just wondering if there was any overlap or connection. There's no way Aranda takes a co-DC role anywhere. There could be a roundabout connection between Aranda and Raymond through Gary Andersen.

They didn't have any overlap from Aranda's bio on Wiki. Aranda was also only at Utah State for a year (2012) before he moved on the Whisky according to the same Wiki page. Seems like to short of a stint for both of them on Anderson's staff to have that roundabout connection, but you never know. I found it interesting that this guy was a GA for 5 years at Cal Lutheran and Texas Tech. He would know all about trying to stop wide open spread passing attacks.

So is Aranda our guy that we want? He's a DIII guy who came out of a very religious program with Frosty as his HC. I played DIII so i always route for the DIII guy. It's Lutheran, but religion and faith was a part of everything they did at Cal Lutheran. To bad he wasn't on staff for their Stagg Bowl win in 1999.

Ah the anxiety wish we would hire these so I can go on living my life and not checking a message board every five minutes

Tell me about it.
A record 5,000+ were here yesterday with hopes of hearing the announcement of this staff.

Is the interest legit?

Yes. Lsu could match the money though . He could just be using UM.

I just know there was contact and he obviously has a number he wants

Using UM to get a raise for (possibly) one more year?

I'm just stating possibilities , he could want a title to go with raise , so there could be legitimate interest . I will say this, he's the type of cat that's normally retained by the next staff. He's played there, coached there ( coached well) and is a really good recruiter .

You never know .

Miles is on a short leash and the influential boosters who wanted him gone might not pony up for salaries. The AD basically told the boosters to F off and the only way the boosters can show influence is hold back money.

I've read he likes the Miami area. Might be a good way for him to get a raise and maybe even a slight promotion, if he comes to Miami. I don't see Miles lasting after last year, unless something seriously changes with that offense.

I have heard before this year that Raymond has had interest in coaching at miami for a while. I never paid it any attention because people say **** all the time.

Les Miles is sitting on the hottest seat in college football. Remember, he was already fired until he was not. The assistant coaches at LSU right now cant feel good about job security. What do you think happens next year if Miles loses two or three games?
