College football needs Miami to be great again.

Ummm, this isn’t a playoff because True playoffs are seeded. In no sport do the two best teams play in the opening round. You’re trying to fix something you think is unfair by making more things unfair to more teams, it makes no sense.

plus, who plays who after these games and which championships are considered opening round playoff games? Was the acc one? How about the aac?
What are you talking about. You would seed the 4 champions. The AAC would most certainly not be included since they aren't power 5 and you would just exclude whichever conference is the weakest. Which would be the ACC this year.

My method does not make it more unfair to more teams. UGA got knocked out the first round. So that is it for them. If the NFL only had 4 divisions with no wildcards. This is exactly how it would play out.

I like your idea, but would find a way to extend to include all 5 P5 conferences. I don’t have an issue adding a round of games.

The ACC is ‘weakest’ this year because of a down year by Clemson, but was the conference any better overall during Dabo’s run of ACC titles? Why should having one great team result in a conference being included over another conference that doesn’t have such a team?

Beautifully said. I sent your post to my son who's in the Airforce.
Like it or not, it also needs USC, Texas, and a few others to return as well. Competition at the sport’s highest echelon is fools gold until then.

This year’s championship game will once more be boring mud match between two bloated sisters. We can **** and moan about the way they’ve gamed the system to ensure the best players and the brightest minds are funneled into their antebellum-loving campuses, but the truth is they were just dedicated to victory. It just meant more. (Please excuse the gurgling sounds of sugar cookies and red wine passing back up through my throat and into the tinsel-laden trash can beside me).

College football has no true spoiler anymore. It lacks the terror of an upstart, for no school has the usurper gene. Miami is the progenitor of the usurper gene, we are the firstborn of our kind. We are the original Bane, the school from another dimension, the assassin in Stratego, the Strider of Lord of the Rings. We are Boba Fett saying to Vader, “He’s no good to me dead,” Leonidas facing down Xerxes and the Persian empire. We are the dethroners, the breakers of tradition, and we should not fear these new kings any more than we feared Oklahoma, Notre Dame or Penn State.

College football is boring because it is so predictable. For too long it has been at peace at the highest levels. Mario must bear a sword on his side, the same sword wielded by Howard and Jimmy. The sword of a usurper, a disruptor, a challenger to the throne.

A few hours from the start of a new year, this must be our resolution. Go Canes!

So Baylor and Pitt or Utah in the playoffs instead of Georgia?

No thanks.

We need to spend more time worrying about UM handling business and less about trying to conjure up bogus measures to restrict the SEC's success.

Just catching up on this thread.
I sorta like the idea of only P5 or Notre Dame teams making it with the caveat you have to be ranking in the top 6. If not it goes to next highest ranked team and they automatically be deemed a wildcard and be 4th - how the NFL does it for wildcard.

In that scenario it would have been
1. Alabama 2. Michigan 3. Notre Dame 4. Baylor
Sorry GA you had your playoff game in the SEC champ. Sorry Cinci, don’t care if you beat ND head to head.

EDIT. was looking at the AP ranking. Committee has Baylor 7th so GA would this be the 4th seed.

Problem would be the playoff committee would figure out a way to make Baylor 7th making GA the wildcard team.

EDIT: They did just that.

Well I am not saying to permanently remove the ACC just this particular year. If we had a very dominant champion(Not one that lost to western mich) than they would get in. Personally, what I would do is realign the confs so we have a power 4. Then you would have the conf championships be the play in games.

100%, because it’s a dead sport right now.

Lol; it’s definitely not a dead sport. Lol. If it was a dead sport, these sponsors wouldn’t be offering so much $ for bowl sponsorships.

Look guys, as I’ve tried to explain months ago, sports go through ebbs & flows. Parity is a perception, but it’s not a reality. I’m sure 76ers fans hated basketball in the 60’s as Boston ran amuck. I’m sure Red Sox fans hated baseball in the 20’s as The Yankees murdered everyone. I’m sure Hawks fans hated Chicago as they dominated the 90’s.

In CFB, here are the facts, usually dominance run through a 20 yr period. I would admonish anyone to go look at the history of National Champions from the inception of CFB. Look every 20 yrs & typically u’ll see the same culprits winning titles. Bama is hot right now; it’s been a 14 yr stretch…but they’ll come back to earth. The reason why we’re so frustrated is b/c we’re not anywhere to be found in discussion, not even a **** conference title game.

It’s OK, I get like that, too…but we’ll be back. We finally have the infrastructure re-establishing itself, but the game is no where near dead. Lol.

facts winning your conference has to be the ticket in and u get rid of the BS, because then u have a goal a ticket and u cant beat a ticket in it gets rid of opinions

Man, I’m just really into jerseys and sneakers. Lol. I don’t like the names on the back b/c that’s not ND. But fck it, they’re not my school, so whatever. Just like I hated when Shannon called himself re-establishing the importance of The U by taking off the name! Lol.
Hates that ****, I need nike damnit. Adidas did do a good job with Arizona State I thought there **** the other day was nice they looked like DBHS

Bama fades into abyss slowly when Saban leaves

Logic is so far gone for you. You said the championship games would be the opening round of the playoff, now you’re taking about seeding teams after that, just like they do now. Bottom line is conference championships from crap conferences don’t qualify you for the playoff more than actually being a dominant team. The idea will never happen because it’s idiocy and counter to what the objective of the playoff is

You’re also giving worse teams in worse conferences a chance at a national championship over better teams because of conference affiliation…that’s the definition of unfair in football

Also, in your plan bama would sleepwalk to another title…that sounds real fun

12 team playoff will change that.
it would be ridiculous to have a national champion that had 3 or 4 losses in the regular season

@OriginalGatorHater idea makes perfect sense

ND is out since they are not in a conf.

1st round: UGA vs Bama, Mich vs Iowa, Ok st vs Baylor, Oregon vs Utah
2nd round Bama vs Utah, Mich vs Baylor
Finals : Bama vs Mich

It creates an 8 game playoff without having to add games.

Man, I hated them unis. Lol. The only thing I liked was the helmets. Truthfully, I hate color rush unis, but my problem w/ AZSt unis are the same issue w/ all of their (Adidas) unis: they are crooked, & the use of ironed-on names to stitched name plates. The result is fonts, spacing, height are all different. Also, b/c Adidas’ logo is huge, come bowl games, the conference & bowl game patches are completely distorted. ****, go look at Amari or TVD’s unis w/ the placement of just the simple “C” on Captain’s uniforms; it will 1000% of the time be distorted.

I actually thought, from an aesthetics standpoint, Wisconsin’s jersey were much nicer. UA makes good, aesthetically pleasing jerseys, and the material is better. Adidas tries to incorporate their Futbol, breathable kits w/ football jerseys & it’s not working. That’s why whether it’s us, AZSt, USF, BC, Texas A&M, the jerseys look good on mannequins and off the players, but once they come over those shoulder pads, it’s distorted.
