COACHING/ADMIN UPDATES MEGGGGAAAAAAATHREAD

Visionary AD:
Tom Jurich (CLEARED OF ALL CHARGES)

Transformational HC:
Fickell

And Jurich can bring along Rick Pitino

In 3 years Miami will be on top of the football world and in the final 4 in basketball. Too easy. Unfortunately we are stuck with Gino in baseball though since we need that sweet tomato money from his tomato dad.

Right @RVACane

Upon further consideration I've re-ranked my coaches and I've got Fickell on top of my board. G5 with two wins over P5s including Notre Dame. Stoops is #2 for beating UF. That puts them over Kiffin, Mario, and the rest.
One of his notable accomplishments was bringing Rick Pitino to the University of Louisville on March 21, 2001. Pitino considered accepting the basketball coaching job at University of Michigan, but told the media, "I can't get on the phone and tell Tom no. I can't tell him this."

I’ve got you by over 30 years. Things weren’t good well before 1983. If you became a Miami “fan” (and I use that term loosely in your case) because of the championships, or the “swag”, or to jump on the “U” bandwagon, you have no clue as to the years and years of mediocrity many of us suffered through pre-Schnelly.

I’ve said this many times in threads on this site; Schnelly caught the CFB world by surprise. JJ capitalized on that success, Erickson managed to keep the ball rolling, then Shapiro shows up and f-cks up everything. Butch somehow got us back and flew the coop (for whatever debatable reason/s) and it’s been downhill ever since.

We won’t and can’t catch anybody by surprise any more. The success of the 80’s and 90’s were a phenomenon started by an innovative coach that caught CFB by surprise. The only way we can return to that type of success is to hire a visionary AD and a transformational HC. There aren’t many of either out there and the few that there may be, good luck getting either to come to a small private school about as far south in the US as you can get with a helluva mess in the athletic department.
Pretty good synopsis. AD Paul Dee's contributions in speeding up Miami's demise shouldn't be overlooked. The lazy fat ******* hired Coker and Shannon.

You are making an assumption by saying that the buyout figure drops after some arbitrary date.

I posted in a thread I created my opinion on Manny’s buyout number. As I said I’d bet my house it’s not $8mm.

One piece of info I can agree with is that since Manny wasn’t fired today, they (BOT) are taking it game by game.

Another complimentary component is how incredibly quite Blake James is especially with basketball season gearing up.

This is contradictory to the past 15 yrs, but I’m guessing the ESPN Gameday grenade has really caused a stir at UM, in a good way, and given more leverage to the more football focused BOT members. And the reason things are so quite is because there is going to be major changes within the Athletic Department. It’s just a matter of when as they get their ducks in a row

This is opinion, not trying to pass off any insider info. One could argue that I’m sprinkling in some optimism with here, but the momentum for major change has never been this strong before, with a big help from Kirk H
Flake staying quite cause he's hoping they'll forget about him and they'll forget he was the one that fcked this up in the first place....

I have no control over other mods, Maude’s, board owners… but for the rest of us… insults are not acceptable.
You could censor a mod for violating forum rules. It is real easy. Let me know if you need help learning how to do this.

Manny Diaz is not the problem.

He's a symptom of the problem, not the root. There is only one constant in UM football since 2013, and that's Blake James. This may get a little "off-point," so apologies in advance. My B.A. is in history, specialities in the Presidency and Revolutionary History. My masters is in Film. I've served as producer, researcher, director, writer. I have a theory of leadership. It encompasses a few traits: vision, pragmatism, and charisma. Those three things build trust.

One of my mantras in UM Football: If Donna Shalala said it, it's probably wrong. "Blake James has proven that he has the experience, skills, leadership and especially the love for the university that we need in athletics." Another is to beware of salespeople in shaky creative capital.

VISION.
To my knowledge, Blake James has never made a definitive statement of his vision for UM Football. A clear, concise direction for the program to go.

Examples:
- "I want to win the ACC Coastal within 3 years."
- "I want to win 3 bowl games in 4 years."
- "I want our football program with a 100% graduation rate."
- "I want our offense to average 35 a game, the defense 10-13."

And so forth.

PRAGMATISM.
Applying that vision with data-oriented strategy. Solving problems. The willingness to shift that strategy in order to achieve that vision. The last part of the definition directs my full attention to Blake James. Blake James was a soft choice to replace the visionary genius of Shawn Eichorst. Eichorst won more games than God himself, and I wept when the Badger/Husker left us for greenless pastures.

#SACKBLAKEJAMES, 1.

They hired Blake James on 02.08.13, when Golden accumulated 11 losses in two years. Final rankings were 56 and 65. Conference record: 8-8. An excuse was stability during "the cloud." Given that talent on those teams, that statement is flimsy. It's even flimsier after 2014, when Miami finished 6-7 with a final rank of 78. Phenomenal players. Dorito defense. Winless in bowl games.

"Al is our coach and will continue to be our coach." "If people weren’t upset about a loss, you probably have a bigger concern because that means they have grown to accept it. Nobody here accepts losses and I wouldn’t expect anything less of our fans. Do I get emails after losses? I do. I get emails from people that are very supportive, people pushing us to continue down the road of building this back to where it needs to be and others very passionate and upset and need to voice their frustration, and I understand that. It’s great to have such a passionate fan base. We want to continue to grow that. I hope everyone understands it’s a process.”

In one quote, James subtly projected blame onto fans. Then changed his mind and loves them. Then he claims a vision without defining it. The finisher? He wants unlimited patience. Reading between the lines, he was afraid to fire Golden because of X. Meaning he wants to please everyone. And pleases no one. There is no backbone, only reactionary hires.

The result? He shifts responsibility to the fans, who have to pay for banners and withhold sales to force the suits to take action. Golden had the job until a week before Halloween '15, when UM was already 3-3.

#SACKBLAKEJAMES, 2.

- Richt gets the job. All is right with the world. A great coach with a proven SEC track record. Alumni. Better still, he reams out Golden's system. Wins 9 games. One, thankfully, a freaking bowl game.
- Year 2. 10 wins! It looked beautiful. I smiled so much in 2017. That's a hard thing to do, because smiling in the state of West Virginia is punishable by death. But the kicker comes in the last three games, the last two giving up over 30 each. Superficially, injuries and unchartered waters. It also shows a product that degenerates with time. Since there is no vision, there is no structure. No pragmatism, no replacement to strengthen the foundation when it cracks.
- Year 3. 6 losses. 4 were consecutive and the last was yet another bowl loss.

#SACKBLAKEJAMES, 3.
- Diaz, year 1. 7 losses. Identifies structural issues. 3 consecutive wins, then 3 consecutive losses. The bowl game was a shutout. The wrong shutout.
- Diaz, year 2. 8-3. Enormous improvement. Quality wins. Then ends the year with consecutive losses. Including ANOTHER @#$(*@#$(&@#$(*@#$ bowl game. I don't consider CoVID a kill factor, because the disease attacked all programs in a more or less equal way.
- Diaz, year 3. Alabama litmus tests the program. App State takes advantage and almost wrecks it. Michigan State destroys the entire foundation. False glue with the schedule of Central Connecticut State. Then perma-death with the UVA loss.

This is not Diaz's doing. He's a great defensive coordinator. It's not Richt's doing. He won over 170 games, 10 10 win seasons, and 10 bowl games. Mostly versus superior competition.

If Blake James remains, the replacement is moot. There is no discernable vision. In short, he's a horrible leader who projects his shortcomings rather than amends them. It should not be up to us to demand a semi-descent product. Yet it is. Again. And again.

#SACKBLAKEJAMES

Love you guys.

It's hard to post this many incorrect statements in one post, but here goes.

- I'm one of the older posters on this board. Those"20 years" I referenced were in regards to the ONLINE COMMUNITY (the message boards) which goes back to Grassy and Shadow for many of us.
- I've been through ALL the ups and downs of this program going back to the late 70's and early 80's.
-I feel the exact same way about your "fanship"
-We are geographically located in THE most fertile recruiting ground in the country. We have a built in geographical advantage that is being suppressed by the fact that local parents DON'T TRUST OUR ADMINISTRATION AND COACHING STAFF.
-We're not *****ing and complaining about not winning titles every year. We are *****ing and complaining about a school administration that simply ISN'T EVEN TRYING to compete.

So yeah, I basically disagree with every syllable of your post. Have a fantastic day.

Won’t react with a childish emoji and it’s certainly your right to disagree with every syllable which is quite a tall task.

One could argue there were apathetic, somewhat incompetent AD’s and presidents during the championship runs. They got lucky first with Howard then JJ and then Erickson. No one can argue change is necessary from the top down. That being said, I stand by my conviction about needing a visionary AD and transformational HC

Alright I'm not going to keep going back and fourth with this. Usually when a well know insider whose broken countless stories says something I believe him, if you don't then thats up to you. Regardless the buyout goes down after the season and the admins aren't going to pay extra money to fire a coach now when they can do it after the season and save some money. I 100% hope Diaz gets fired today but with the ****** administration we have I don't see it happening
You love being proven wrong, don't you.

Sam Jankovich was a visionary AD.

Urban probably feels no different than most coaches on this issue. But this fool had the nerve to pull this at a sensitive time like that. Wow this dude his no sense of timing.
