Kirby Smart's initial UGA contract was $3.75M and here are the details of his buyout (termination):

"If Georgia terminates Smart it would owe: $13.5 million in 2016, or $10.8 million in 2017, or $7.050,375 in 2018, or $4.700,250 in 2019, or $2.35,125 in 2020, or 62.67% of his remaining salary if it happens in 2021."

Manny is in his third season with us so if the $8M is right then it's $1M more than Kirby Smart had at UGA but Kirby's contract was 6 years. I don't know how much Manny makes (the internet says $3.1). The sample size here is only two but the coaches are similar in that both were long-time defensive coordinators. My guess is Kirby took a lower buyout to get a slightly longer contract and Manny asked for a higher buyout due to turnover at UM. I would expect Manny's buyout to reduce sometime after the season.

ATHENS — Kirby Smart has agreed to a six-year contract that will pay him approximately $3.75 million per season, according to a memorandum of understanding released by UGA on Sunday.

**** they talk about it in podcasts how they've messed up allowing more members in. Should've just kept it with 6, IMO. They've had members in the NWO that didn't fit or make sense in the NWO. Became over saturated.
I thought Buff Bagwell was corny asf. Didn't like him. Meh on Norton. But I liked him with he was trading with the brotha, should've had a run with the tag titles. Hall and Nash were my guys. Never liked Hogan. Didn't like my guy Randy too much in the NWO, but he was and is my #1 so I rode with it. But if they didn't let too many ppl in and if they didn't hire Russo, who knows what would have been with WCW.

I'm a Carolina Panthers fan. Do you know how obnoxious the Tar Heel fans are on the board I post on?

I'd love to avoid that fate by the Admin doing their job and sacking James / Diaz before Monday.

This is pretty interesting and very revealing. You could see he was pretty distraught on Thursday night when all of the boos happened at halftime. He tried to smile through it but you could tell he was pretty uncomfortable. Hopefully he's just had enough and moves on.

Kirby Smart was a **** of a lot more qualified at the time of hiring than Manny Diaz was. Manny Diaz, at that point in time, had ALREADY BEEN FIRED AS A COORDINATOR and our only competition for his services was TEMPLE.

I'll say it again, giving an EIGHT MILLION DOLLAR BUYOUT IN YEAR THREE to a guy who was NEVER qualified for the job to begin with is just the DEFINITION OF ASININE BEHAVIOR.
