Coach Diaz with Joe Rose show

You dont find it fishy that we can hire a HC in less than 10 hours but it's taking over a week to hire an OC???? For Manny we can get T's crossed and I's dotted in a manner of hours. But for an OC there's a hold up. Somethings up

He also was already an employee of UM so there are steps he just would not have to go through... things like background checks take time at any position, let alone a high profile one like the coaching staff.

I don't mind them taking their time & finding the right guy, no problem with waiting.

However I don't actually think they're interviewing a bunch of candidates either. I believe they missed on Fedora because they're not trying to pay more than $1million at the max for an OC & considering they're only paying Diaz $3.1mill I sincerely doubt they're willing to pay top dollar.

The hold up among other things has probably been they really only wanna pay $700K - $900K at the most.
They were willing to pay a mil for an OC with Richt. I believe they spend whatever Diaz needs this time around. It’s easy to justify not having to pay Richt a buyout and Diaz less than Richt. Add in how overpaid all the offensive assistants were and money isn’t an issue.
I think you’re right that we’re waiting on other coaches. It’s more complicated than just an open head coaching spot at Temple. If Diaz is as smart as we think, he’s probably seeing what assistants each OC wants and who’s willing to work with them. For example, what if Seider says I’ll work for Fedora but not Applewhite because his run offense isn’t as good.

Manny also stated that he isn't planning to take just anybody in recruiting. “We have a limited number of scholarships to give and you have to make sure that you are giving it to the right guy," "We do not have to reach on a player. We do not have to just panic and run into the store and grab the first thing that’s on the shelf. We have met on recruiting this week with the staff we have on campus and if these guys aren’t good enough to help us win the game we have to win in Charlotte against the team everyone watched play on Monday night, then we don’t have to take them."
So no Zion Nelson’s? Lol

It’s obvious that we’re being played. The national OC hunt is like musical chairs. We and Temple will be the last ones.
I just don't see why it's so difficult, if we are actually willing to pay anything around a mil a year. Maybe Manny knows he can pluck several good OCs away, but wants to wait it out in hopes of getting a big fish? I'm with you. The longer we wait, the more guys we miss out on. Also, the more will will have to over-pay whomever we steal away from somewhere else.

I'm not for rushing important hires, but I am all for getting a hire made so they can get to recruiting ASAP. This can't drag into February, can it?

We've heard the "we don't offer just anyone" mantra for a decade.
At some point, we have to fill a team. We're basically sanctioning ourselves.

Agreed. We need to increase the amount of offers we put out and expand the board much earlier. We have to get up to 85 guys at some point soon.

What in the **** does it hurt to wait? It's a dead period & he's still on the announced track.

Respectfully, why would he care about your POV of logic? At this point, he's trolling a tad.
If he is a low-key troll, at least he's decent at it, unlike the Lakeland kids.
I think Manny made it a goal to run a tight ship, and he's currently reveling in the fact that he accomplished his first "turn around" at Miami. Plugging all the leaks in a program that loves them.

We love to make things harder than they are. What in the **** would it hurt to announce the OC?

If the OL coach flakes, how does that impact us knowing/not knowing the OC?

I just don't understand the logic.
I totally agree

Where did Manny say he was announcing ALL of the offensive staff at once????

He obviously keeps up with the internet rumors and he made a snide remark about it. Especially with recruiting getting started I’m not sure why you drag it out, unless the financial offers being issued cause Manny to go down his list.

There is all pure speculation on my part.

History at Miami has shown when they want a guy it happens quickly.

Really do love these boards. If he hires too fast, he's lazy. If he takes too long to hire, he's striking out. If he hires someone he's worked with (college football is very incestuous), he's hiring friends. If he hires a young up and comer, he's betting the program on unknowns.

I think I read a story about our fanbase. Something about porridge and three bears

I don’t think it’s worth rushing for recruiting purposes, especially post-early signing day.

The right OC & staff > recruits that are still out there.

Yawn. Sounds like something Al Golden would have said. I'm way past sound bites.
Golden said lots of good things, he just sucked at accomplishing the things he said. Manny also said a lot of good things when he came here 3 years ago, "we're gonna play fast, aggressive and violent", and he delivered. Comparing what he says to Golden is stupid, but our fan base loves to turn on coaches before they should.

Wonder how Maryland feels after that horrific Locksley-called offensive performance by Bama in the NC game?

I liked his approach regarding the QB situation. Sounds like he was calling a few guys out.."Not going to play you by default because you are the best out of an average group" (paraphrasing) sounds like that was a direct shot at Jarren. Which I like. And I like that he took at shot at Perry for all his off the field antics.

I also think he is trying to assemble the whole offensive staff together before announcing. One thing is for sure, the leaks have stopped. We are only hearing about the candidates now that are not in consideration. (I.E..Sedrick Irvin, Lamar Thomas, etc) So a lot is going on behind the scenes.

I want him to take his time but I also want him to make quick work of this. This cant take forever because he cannot afford to use this 2019 class as a "throw away" class. He needs to get on the trail as soon as the dead period is over. We cannot afford to have anymore depth issues down the line if we are going to get back to Charlotte and beyond.
