Clinton Portis Guilty of Fraud (Update, post #40)

That was the problem? He had horrible people around him? There isn't a chance that he could be the problem and he's a horrible person?

How did I not see this post. Lulz at u saying there’s isn’t a chance of him being a horrible person. Fact is, he WAS surrounded by horrible ppl that leeched off him, f’d up his finances. Is he responsible for his actions? Absolutely, but it’s a known fact that the company u keep can f up ur decision making abilities.

I knew someone would defend the actions of a convicted liar and thief.

I'm talking straight up armed robbery. No violence, purely a stick up and grab.

You add to it, you're in for life or longer.

So no, non-violent theft will get you 10 to 20x the time and you booster 100x less.
You know armed robbery is considered a violent crime right??

Ur reading comprehension sucks, my nig. Real talk.

I clearly said he’s responsible for his own actions, but it’s known he had leeches around him, and it’s also known, in general, that hanging around the wrong crowd will f up ur life.
He's responsible for his own actions. full stop. There is no "buts". Even the "leeches around him" , is his responsibility since we are responsible even for the people we associate with. That's it.

Do you have a son or children?

No it’s a personal question and I’m not going down that street. Thank you.

Interesting; so u can make a blanket comment regarding how a person’s surrounding is their responsibility, even though u do not know CP, personally, what he’s been through, or how he could’ve possibly got caught up; yet, u can’t answer a simple informal ? regarding if u have a son/children or not?

So let me just tell u this; at the end of the day, it’s all of our responsibility in how we move in every aspects of life, but how we move can also be altered by things that are in our control, & some things that are out of our control. CP is doing his time, he has to eat that for his actions. However, back to my “personal” ? to you: if do have kids, don’t think for one second they are not being influenced by their company. The fact that u asked this ? to my QP: “There isn't a chance that he could be the problem and he's a horrible person?” let’s me know how ignorant u r to societal behavior.

One last time: Portis is even responsible for the people he associates with. Portis is 40 years old.

Full stop.

Children make mistakes, it doesn't mean they're a horrible person through and through.

He screwed up and knowingly did so. There is no excuse, circle of friends, etc.

And again, u made a bum *** assessment about someone u don’t know.
What don't I know? He's a 40 year old man who has been convicted of lying and stealing. He's a criminal who is solely to blame for his actions. You, on the other hand, want to, in some degree, blame the people that Portis associated with, as if Portis doesn't have the responsibility in choosing his associates. This is 101 responsible living. I am responsible for my own actions which include the people that I associate with. But for some reason, a Canes legend isn't.

Don’t put words in my mouth. Ur ignorance is bliss, and how u interpret chit is not my responsibility. Sleep well.

Well... Portis participating in fraud does not mean that he was surrounded by bad people. Its not the first time hes had a fight with the law.

There are examples for athletes surrounding themselves, including former superstar Handball player (yes, handball, you dont know it, its big in Europe, thats not the point) Filip Jicha. He played for THW Kiel, one of the great powers in the sport. They dont pay the most money, but the coaching and development of young players, along with playing in the most competitive league in the world make it really good on a european stage.

He got into a real estate business with someone he trusted, only for that person to scam him and leave him with massive amounts of debt. 40% of his income just went into paying off debt - and in Germany, they dont joke with debt. Believe me. It led to him begging his team to sell him to Spain where he made much more money to settle the debt. He is back coaching in Kiel again.

Thats where someone surrounded himself with the wrong people. Portis is just doing dirty **** knowingly.

Rellyrell, this is what you said in a previous comment: "Interesting; so u can make a blanket comment regarding how a person’s surrounding is their responsibility, even though u do not know CP, personally, what he’s been through, or how he could’ve possibly got caught up; yet, u can’t answer a simple informal ? regarding if u have a son/children or not?"

You are IN SOME DEGREE blaming other people/circumstances for Portis' crime instead blaming Portis solely for his crime. For instance, you are questioning his surroundings and what he's been through as reasons for why Portis committed the crime. When I'm saying, the crime is solely his responsibility regardless of any outside circumstances. He's forty years old. He's not 8 or 16. He's forty years old who committed a crime and is now serving a prison sentence for that crime. He's solely to blame not his associates or what he's been through, or his surroundings.
